SoSS #273 - H is for Happy Birthday

Greetings and salutations snarky pals!

Thanks for stopping by to check out the latest challenge from Edna and the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers.

Edna is inviting you to the party as we celebrate H is for Happy Birthday.

I always struggle to make masculine birthday cards, so I pulled out my very favourite birthday stamp sets by LRDS Creative from the March 2023 Crop & Create, a few Tim Holtz stencils and some distress inks to make this card for a special someone who celebrated their 40th birthday this year.

As always, we hope you will come to the party and show us your birthday projects.
You can find all the detals for the challenge on the SoSS BLOG.
While you are there, please share some crafty love and comments with our reigning Queen of Snark and the rest of the Sisterhood.

SoSS #267 - S is for Spooky

Ghostly greetings and spooky salutations snarky friends!

Thanks for stopping by to check out the latest challenge from Edna and the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers!

It's the most wonderful time of the year, time to celebrate all things pumpkin spice and Halloween!

Edna wants to see your spooooooooooooooooooooooooooooookiest creations.

With October being breast cancer awareness month, we give you the optional addition of pink!

I got some great Halloweeny craty supplies over the summer at the Stamplicity warehouse sale, including some stencils and distress crayons that I couldn't wait to try out.

I "fingerpainted" sort of with the crayons for the background and then overlayed with water, stencils and more distress crayons on top.

As always, we would love for you to join the sisterhood and play along.

You can find all the details for the challenge on the SoSS BLOG.

While you are there, please share some crafty love and comments with our reigning Queen of snark and the rest of the sisterhood.

SoSS #257 - H is for Ho Ho Ho (Naughty Christmas)

Greetings and salutations snarky pals!

Hope that all is well in your corner of this crazy little planet we inhabit together.

The end of another year is almost upon us and for Edna and the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers that means it's time for on of our favourite annual challenges - H is for Ho Ho Ho (Naughty Christmas).

We want to see some colossal year end snark on these ones
Don't celebrate Christmas? Cool Cool...show us what you celebrate this time of the year and don't forget to bring the snark!

I had this card in my little brain and I am happy it came out even better than I hoped!

I am soooooooo in love with the sidekick side-order collections from Tim Holtz - I had to use a few (Letter Board and Christmas Minis) on my card.

I hope that Sister Deena is proud of me for doing some die cutting (little pieces and old eyes are not a good combination!)

Shite I used to make this card:
  • White, pink and black cardstock (Recollections)
  • Fa La La design paper (Bella Blvd)
  • Kraft Core cardstock (Tim Holtz)
  • Sanding block (SU)
  • Letter Board and Christmas Minis sidekick side-order thinlits / texture fades  (Tim Holtz)
As always we would love for you to join the sisterhood and play along.
You can find all of the details for the challenge on the SoSS BLOG.

Shopping Our Stash #533 - Birds of a Feather

Had a day with a little bit of down time today (whhhaaaaattt?????) so I decided to play along with a few challenges including SHOPPING OUR STASH and their latest challenge - "Birds of a Feather" and  SEIZE THE BIRTHDAY challenge #294 - Feather

Some of you may know that I have a weird unwarranted terrifying fear of birds, so I don't have a lot of bird related craft supplies LOL

Last year my crafty friend Christa gifted me a few stamp sets, including this "Dream" set from Lawn Fawn...I knew I had feathers somewhere!

I based my card on this one I found on pinterest:

Here is my watercolour rainbow of feathers (I need to find the coordinating dies now!)

Shite I used to make this card:
  • White and black cardstock (Recollections)
  • Nocturne Versafine ink (Tsukineko)
  • Dream stamp set (Lawn Fawn)
  • Barn Door, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, Peeled Paint, Peacock Feathers and Shaded Lilac distress inks (Tim Holtz)
  • Watercolour brush (Tim Holtz)

Until next time, best wishes, warmest regards...

Heart's Quest Challenge Blog #46

One of the things I love about being on the snarky stameprs design team is checking out all of the amazing creations that others make.

Sometimes I come across a new (to me) challenge blog and I just cant resist playing along.

For the Heart's Quest Challenge Blog #46 I used from part A - image of a girl and from part B heart shaped sticker.

I based my cards on the scrapbook nerd Wild Card Wednesday #48 with paper weaving.

Greetings & salutations snarky friends! Hope that all is well in your corner of the universe!

Thanks for stopping by to check out the latest challenge from Edna and the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers.

Looks like Edna perfected her tie dying skills at summer camp...and now she'd like you to show us YOUR vivid creations!

I totally took the easy way out on this one and used a "Done For You" alcohol ink sheet from Taylored Expressions.

I am having one of those no mojo times, so this worked super well for the challenge and hey, it does have vivid colours!

The image is from a stamp set I picked up at Scrapfest in Kitchener this past April and then of course, a snarky sentiment (is it snarky if it's the truth???)

Shite I used to make this card:
  • White and black cardstock (Recollections)
  • Done For You Alcohol Ink Series 2 sheet (Taylored Expressions)
  • A Little Snarky stamp set (Sweet'n Sassy Stamps)
  • Nocturne ink (Tsukineko)
  • Small Talk Snarky sentiment sticker (Tim Holtz)
As always we would love for you to join the sisterhood and play along.

Lindsey's Legacy Hop

Greetings and salutations crafty friends!

Thanks for stopping by to check out this special blog hop in honour of our beloved Sister Lindsey

Today, we are hopping in memory of our dear friend and fellow cardmaker, Lindsey Martin-Penny, who sadly passed away last year from a rare and aggressive form of ovarian cancer.

September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and Lindsey’s husband Burke thought it would be a great time to sell off her many craft supplies, with all of the proceeds going towards Lindsey’s Legacy Fund for Clear Cell Ovarian Cancer Research in cooperation with The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

The purpose of this hop will be to honour Lindsey, celebrate her life and all that she loved, as well as help spread the word to raise funds for clear cell ovarian cancer research.  You can help in one of several ways!

  1. Purchase a Flat Rate Mailer stuffed with loads of fabulous craft supplies.  These can only be mailed within Canada and there will be no tax receipts provided with the purchase of these boxes.  A box of craft supplies would make a great gift for yourself, a crafty friend or a child/classroom!  For details about the boxes and how you can go about purchasing one, please email lindseyslegacyfund@rogers.com with the message "Craft Box" or visit Lindsey’s original blog, Bashful Blogging.  Every craft box purchase in September will be entered into a draw and one lucky winner will win a $100 gift certificate to Scrap ‘n Stamp.

  2. During the month of September, shop at Scrap ‘n Stamp using the code LINDSEY10 at checkout.  You will get 10% off your purchase (sale items excluded) and Scrap ‘n’ Stamp will donate 10% of their proceeds to Lindsey’s Legacy Fund.

  3. Any donations over $15 made directly to Lindsey’s Legacy Fund will receive a digital tax receipt.

  4. Repost this hop on your social media and encourage others to share!

Longtime followers of The Sisterhood already know what a joy Lindsey was to so many of us.  Her wit, intelligence and creativity brought so much light into our lives and she is dearly missed.

Today we are hosting our own little Happy Hour in honor of Lindsey who did love a good cocktail.  There won't be a gallery however we will be back tomorrow with our regularly scheduled programming.

Here's what I made for the hop - please join us in raising a glass and a heartfelt cheers to our beloved snarky sister.

It's the most wonderful time of the year!!

Yep, unlike the majority of the sisterhood, I am all about the S is for Steampunk challenge...it's a great excuse to make a big old inky mess (who doesn't love THAT??)

Also a great excuse to break out some of my fave Tim Holtz stuff...ok let's be honest...ALL of his stuff is my fave stuff!

It's been forever since I made a tag and believe it or not, I did start with a manilla tag - but then I added ink, ink, and more ink, stencil, stencil and more stencil, stamp, stamp and more stamp, maybe a few of my own fingerprints...and this is what I ended up with:

Mother's Day is just around the corner for those of us in North America, so we are celebrating all things Yo Mama (interpret how you will).

My card morphed over a few hours, I was very displeased with it and it almost ended up (several times) in the recycling bin (it's only paper right??)

I kept adding to it, adding more ink, more stenciled layers, more watercolouring - meh, I am still not sure it won't end up in the bin...

Shite I used to make this card:
  • White cardstock (Recollections)
  • Weathered Wood, Peacock Feathers, Twisted Citron, Spiced Marmalade, Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide inks (Tim Hotlz)

Bunnies Bunnies Everywhere

I don't know about you - but when I can't sleep in the middle of the night - I get up and start making a whole bunch of Easter cards - likely more than I will need in my lifetime.

SoSS #231 - B is for Bunny

Greetings and salutations snarky pals!

Thanks for stopping by to check out the latest challenge from Edna and the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers.

With spring arriving and Easter approaching, we are celebrating all things bunny.

This is one of my "OMG this took me ALL day to make" cards.

The bunny is from the September 2022 crop & create (which I had not used until now!!), the postcard die is from this past weekend's crop & create event and the sentiment is from a stamp and die set I found at Michael's years ago.

I watched the video from the September 2022 event to watercolour the background, the bunny and the little pill bottle.

Several things went awry in the making of this card and it almost ended up in the recycling.

But I took sooooooo long to do the watercolouring, I couldn't bear to toss it!

A few of the many things I have learned doing crop and create events - friends, it's only paper...and...it's better than horrible!

The little pill bottle, when die cutting, the die shifted, so it has an indent in it...meh...

When cutting the background piece with the postcard die, the little pill bottle die was still stuck on the cutting plate - so there's a pill bottle size hole in the background behind the bunny...meh

Shite I used to make this card:
  • White and black cardstock (Recollections)
  • Watercolour paper (crop & create Sept 2022 kit)
  • Feel Better stamp and die set (Mama Elephant)
  • Cheeky Modern Pop stamp and die set (Recollections)
  • Seaside Post Wafer Dies (Concord & 9th)
  • India Ink Black ink (Hero Arts)
  • Picked Raspberry, Peacock Feathers, Mustard Seed, Scattered Straw, Gathered Twigs distress inks (Tim Holtz)
  • Water colour pen (Tim Holtz)
  • Water spritzer (SU)
As always, we would love for you to join the sisterhood and play along.

Edna appears to have been working on her ink collection in more way than one - check out those awesome sleeves and maybe a wee tat under her eye?? Makes me want another tattoo...sigh...

Anywho...break out your inks and show us what you've got!
