SoSS #273 - H is for Happy Birthday

Greetings and salutations snarky pals!

Thanks for stopping by to check out the latest challenge from Edna and the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers.

Edna is inviting you to the party as we celebrate H is for Happy Birthday.

I always struggle to make masculine birthday cards, so I pulled out my very favourite birthday stamp sets by LRDS Creative from the March 2023 Crop & Create, a few Tim Holtz stencils and some distress inks to make this card for a special someone who celebrated their 40th birthday this year.

As always, we hope you will come to the party and show us your birthday projects.
You can find all the detals for the challenge on the SoSS BLOG.
While you are there, please share some crafty love and comments with our reigning Queen of Snark and the rest of the Sisterhood.

SoSS #272 - C is for Cold

Greetings & salutations snaky friends!

Thanks for stopping by to check out the latest challenge from Edna and the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers.

Poor Edna looks a wee chilly out there without her coat and boots and toque - she is a tough old bird!

We made it through January and February - the clocks spring forward this weekend - can we hope that sunshine and warmer weather are not too far behind?

Is there anything better on a cold day than a warm bevvy??
Not for me....while it's true that I am a year round tea granny, in the cooler months I am also known to enjoy a chai latte (I know still tea) or  hot chocolate with a splash of coffee and cream.

I was inspired for this challenge by the November 2025 SCT Let's Stamp Together kit by Spellbinders.
How freaking cute are those mugs and little marshmallows???
Yes November kit, I know it's March...I didn't have time to do the class until a few weeks ago...

As always we would love for you to join the sisterhood and play along.
You can find all the details for the challenge on the SoSS BLOG.

While you are there please share some crafty love and comments with our reigning Queen of Snark and the rest of the sisterhood.

SoSS #271 - Black Black Heart

Greetings and salutations snarky friends.
The season of love is upon us.
Edna, as you can see, is thrilled by this prospect.
Much like Edna, I myself have never been much of a lovey dovey kinda gal.
Love is really best expressed through sarcasm and snark no??

I knew exactly the stamp set I wanted to use for this one, a la our Sister Chris and her "Some Snark" sentiments.

I also wanted to use one of my new TWC stencils (layered rose banner) cuz roses are dead romantic no??

As always, we would love for you to join the sisterhood and play along.
You can find all the details for the challenge on the SoSS BLOG.
While you are there, please share some crafty love and comments for our reigning Queen of Snark and the rest of the sisterhood.
Until next time...

SoSS #270 - N is for New or Never

Greetings, salutations & happy new year snarky friends!
Hope the holiday season was kind to you and yours and that 2026 brings all the good.

Edna and the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers are back with our first challenge of 2026.

Did you get some new crafty things for Christmas?
Do you have loads of stuff in your craft room that you've never used?
Here's your chance to show it off!
We want to see something new, new to you or never been used on your project.

My crafty resolution for 2026 is to break out some of the many many many things I have in my craft room that I have never used.

For this challenge I went back to a class by Simon Hurley that was part of the March 2023 Crop & Create that for some reason I have not done until now. For my project I used the stencils, masks and stamps from that class.

These colours are pretty far out of my comfort zone but I loved the stenciling and masking to get the layered effect. The sentiments are from a Strawberry Jude Stamps set that were gifted to the Sisterhood a number of years ago.

As always, we would love for you to join the Sisterhood and play along.
You can find all the details for the challenge on the SoSS BLOG.
While you are there, please share some crafty love and comments with our reigning Queen of Snark and the rest of the sisterhood.

Shopping Our Stash #560 - A Few of My Favourite Things

Greetings and salutations crafty friends!

I am trying to make the most of my days off this week, including getting a start on my holiday cards and participating in a few challenges.

I made a few Santa cards specifically for the A FEW OF MY FAVOURITE THINGS challenge at SHOPPING OUR STASH.

A few of my favourite things on this card are:
  • shaped cards
  • stenciling
  • distress oxide inks
  • Christmas
  • SCT Let's Stamp Together kits (this one is from 2024 and this is the first time I've used it!)

Christmas Kickstart Challenge #104 - Just Add Antlers

Greetings and salutations crafty friends!

I was super excited to see the "Just Add Antlers" challenge theme over at Christmas Kickstart Challenge.

Some time ago, my lovely crafty Sistah Chris had gifted me some super cute moose die cuts (Poppystamps).

I have some free time this week, so I grabbed some distress oxide inks, blending brushes and stencils and made 3 cards (2 without snowflakes as I decided after that the moose popped {not pooped}) better without the snowflakes.

When hubby and I were in Newfoundland in September, we saw these 2 (antlerless and sadly sweaterless) moose. They were so close to the car we could hear them chewing, and mama moose was keeping a keen eye to make sure we didn't get to close...meh, it was a rental car.

OK so here are the cards I made:

With or without snowflakes??
Maybe if I had done the stripes in brown and the snowflakes in blue - next time...

Now I gotta figure out where locally I can get my hands on those dies, I mean really a moose in a holiday sweater...come on now!

SoSS #267 - S is for Spooky

Ghostly greetings and spooky salutations snarky friends!

Thanks for stopping by to check out the latest challenge from Edna and the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers!

It's the most wonderful time of the year, time to celebrate all things pumpkin spice and Halloween!

Edna wants to see your spooooooooooooooooooooooooooooookiest creations.

With October being breast cancer awareness month, we give you the optional addition of pink!

I got some great Halloweeny craty supplies over the summer at the Stamplicity warehouse sale, including some stencils and distress crayons that I couldn't wait to try out.

I "fingerpainted" sort of with the crayons for the background and then overlayed with water, stencils and more distress crayons on top.

As always, we would love for you to join the sisterhood and play along.

You can find all the details for the challenge on the SoSS BLOG.

While you are there, please share some crafty love and comments with our reigning Queen of snark and the rest of the sisterhood.

SoSS #264 - H is for Hot Hot Hot (summer)

Greetings and salutations snarky pals!

Thanks for stopping by to check out the latest challenge from Edna and the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers.

For the next month we are getting hot hot hot and we hope you will play along!

I had an entirely different card and blog post ready for this challenge and then thought EFFFFFFFF it, I want to make something snarky.

So here it is, using a sentiment stamp from our very own SISTER CHRIS and Stamplorations which perfectly sums up my state of mind these days!

As always, we would love for you to join the sisterhood and play along.

You can find all the details over on the SoSS BLOG and while you are there, please leave some crafty love and comments for our reigning Queen of Snark and the rest of the sisterhood.

Until next time...best wishes, warmest regards!

Hey Dude!

Super excited that both SHOPPING OUR STASH and SEIZE THE BIRTHDAY  have masculine challenges on right now.

I picked up the "Party Animal" stamp, stencil and die set by Concord & 9th not that long ago and had yet to break into it.

I always struggle making dude cards (why is that??) so I thought these ones would work for lots of things depending on the colour scheme (I also struggle not to use pink and purple all the time lol).

I love the reverse stamping of the sentiment stamp, the ink stamps the black background and the text stays the colour of the cardstock underneath.

The colours of balloon dogs in the background required me to number the colours in sharpie on the first stencil and use lots of sticky notes for masking.

This card is almost a direct CASE of the sample card at Two Scrapbook Friends (which might have been why I bought it???)

Entering this card into the following challenges:

Until next time, best wishes, warmest regards...

SoSS #256 - C is for Critters

Greetings and salutations snarky friends!

Thanks for stopping by to check out the latest challenge from Edna and the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers!

In this challenge we are celebrating all the critters and hope that you will play along.

I went with a  "mythical critters" birthday theme using the "celebrate" triple slim layering stencil and "mythical grumplings" stamp and die set from Taylored Expressions.

Not sure I am super digging the colours that I picked, but meh - it is what it is - yellow is totally outside of my wheehouse lol.

As always we would love for you to join the sisterhood and play along.

You can find all the details for the challenge at the SoSS Blog.

While you are there please share some crafty love and comments with our reigning Queen of Snark and my snarky sisters.

Until next time, best wishes and warmest regards...

SoSS #251 - D is for Die Cut

Best wishes and warmest regards snarky pals!

Thanks for stopping by today to check out the latest challenge from Edna and the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers.

Break out your old cuttlebug, or platinum six (or in my case both) cuz for this challenge we want to see your die cuts!

I made this card for my father in law's birthday this year using the January 2024 Let's Stamp Together kit from Scrapbook and Cards Today (yep, I am trying to make an effort to use my kits at least once!).

I die cut the envelope, the present,  the letters and the shadow for the letters. I also had a lot of fun stenciling, which I like more than die cutting...but hey it's not a stencil challenge (note for next year's challenge list).

As always, we would love for you to join the sisterhood and play along.

You can find all the details for the challenge on the SoSS BLOG.

While you are there, please share some crafty love and comments with our reigning Queen of Snark and the rest of the sisterhood!

Lindsey's Legacy Hop

Greetings and salutations crafty friends!

Thanks for stopping by to check out this special blog hop in honour of our beloved Sister Lindsey

Today, we are hopping in memory of our dear friend and fellow cardmaker, Lindsey Martin-Penny, who sadly passed away last year from a rare and aggressive form of ovarian cancer.

September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and Lindsey’s husband Burke thought it would be a great time to sell off her many craft supplies, with all of the proceeds going towards Lindsey’s Legacy Fund for Clear Cell Ovarian Cancer Research in cooperation with The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

The purpose of this hop will be to honour Lindsey, celebrate her life and all that she loved, as well as help spread the word to raise funds for clear cell ovarian cancer research.  You can help in one of several ways!

  1. Purchase a Flat Rate Mailer stuffed with loads of fabulous craft supplies.  These can only be mailed within Canada and there will be no tax receipts provided with the purchase of these boxes.  A box of craft supplies would make a great gift for yourself, a crafty friend or a child/classroom!  For details about the boxes and how you can go about purchasing one, please email lindseyslegacyfund@rogers.com with the message "Craft Box" or visit Lindsey’s original blog, Bashful Blogging.  Every craft box purchase in September will be entered into a draw and one lucky winner will win a $100 gift certificate to Scrap ‘n Stamp.

  2. During the month of September, shop at Scrap ‘n Stamp using the code LINDSEY10 at checkout.  You will get 10% off your purchase (sale items excluded) and Scrap ‘n’ Stamp will donate 10% of their proceeds to Lindsey’s Legacy Fund.

  3. Any donations over $15 made directly to Lindsey’s Legacy Fund will receive a digital tax receipt.

  4. Repost this hop on your social media and encourage others to share!

Longtime followers of The Sisterhood already know what a joy Lindsey was to so many of us.  Her wit, intelligence and creativity brought so much light into our lives and she is dearly missed.

Today we are hosting our own little Happy Hour in honor of Lindsey who did love a good cocktail.  There won't be a gallery however we will be back tomorrow with our regularly scheduled programming.

Here's what I made for the hop - please join us in raising a glass and a heartfelt cheers to our beloved snarky sister.

Thanks for stopping by to check out the latest challenge from Edna and the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers.

It's the most wonderful time of the year!!

Yep, unlike the majority of the sisterhood, I am all about the S is for Steampunk challenge...it's a great excuse to make a big old inky mess (who doesn't love THAT??)

Also a great excuse to break out some of my fave Tim Holtz stuff...ok let's be honest...ALL of his stuff is my fave stuff!

It's been forever since I made a tag and believe it or not, I did start with a manilla tag - but then I added ink, ink, and more ink, stencil, stencil and more stencil, stamp, stamp and more stamp, maybe a few of my own fingerprints...and this is what I ended up with:

Mother's Day is just around the corner for those of us in North America, so we are celebrating all things Yo Mama (interpret how you will).

My card morphed over a few hours, I was very displeased with it and it almost ended up (several times) in the recycling bin (it's only paper right??)

I kept adding to it, adding more ink, more stenciled layers, more watercolouring - meh, I am still not sure it won't end up in the bin...

Shite I used to make this card:
  • White cardstock (Recollections)
  • Weathered Wood, Peacock Feathers, Twisted Citron, Spiced Marmalade, Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide inks (Tim Hotlz)
  • Title stencil (AALL &Create)
  • Coffee Stains stencil (AALL &Create)
  • Nocturine Versafine Clair ink (Tsukineko)
  • Winged Things stamp (Tim Holtz)

I don't know about you - but when I can't sleep in the middle of the night - I get up and start making a whole bunch of Easter cards - likely more than I will need in my lifetime.

My reindeer stamp is a gift from my lovely and crafty friend DEENA and believe it or not, that reindeer is three separate stamps, I kinda (ok A LOT) impressed myself with how well I got the antlers lined up on his head!

It's called Christmas Kickstart Challenge, and she has invited the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers to be her helper elves for challenge #68 - Trees Trees Trees

One can never ever ever have too many Christmas cards in ones stash, so I took the opportunity of this challenge to try out my new Create in Quads "Peaceful Pines" stencil set from Taylored Expressions to make 4 card fronts.
