Shopping Our Stash #313 - Butterflies, Bees and Bugs

Greetings crafty pals!

Thanks for stopping by today to check out the latest challenge from the SHOPPING OUR STASH crew!

Our theme this week is Butterflies, Bees and Bugs (and other insects)

I have made a bunch of butterfly cards recently, so I wanted to go with something different for the challenge.

I love love love the wee bee in the "Gnome Sweet Gnome" stamp set by Lawn Fawn, it's just so cute and comes with another stamp for its flight path.

This turned out to be one of those CAS cards where the C turned into COMPLICATED lol

Initially I had cut the hello out of the yellow paper and layered it on top, but then I thought, hey, that would look better if I cut it out of the white layer so you can see the yellow from the underneath layer.

So that's what I did. And it looked funny. And it stumped me. I couldn't figure out why it looked funny.

Ahhhhhhhh that's why, I need to add back in the little parts that I had poked out from the centre of the letters and tossed in the recycle bin! With those added back it, it looked more like hello again.

Shite I used to make this card:

  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Crushed Curry cardstock (SU)
  • Gnome Sweet Gnome stamp set (Lawn Fawn)
  • Hello die (Lawn Fawn)
  • Crushed Curry marker (SU)
  • Tuxedo Black ink (Memento)
As always, we would love for you to play along with us.

Shopping Our Stash # 312 - You Light Up My Life

Greetings pals!

Thanks for stopping by to check out the latest challenge from the SHOPPING OUR STASH crew.

This week we want you to light up our life. Anything with a light bulb will do - a lamp, flashlight, lantern, or just a plain old light bulb.

In my head I had planned to use the cute little light bulb in the We Totally Click stamp set by Paper Smooches. Clearly I don't look at my stamp sets closely enough - it also has a super cute lamp (which apparently I have never used...until now).

I also knew I wanted to make a fooler card, where the base is just a piece of cardstock and the card is actually the smaller folded piece on top...then the image is stamped on the inside of the card that you see through the punched window in the front.

Shite I used to make this card:

  • Polka dot cardstock (Recollections)
  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Black cardstock (Recollections)
  • We Totally Click stamp set (Paper Smooches)
  • Tuxedo Black ink (Memento)
  • Squeezed Lemonade distress marker (Tim Holtz)
  • 2" circle punch (Marvy)
  • 2 1/2" circle punch (SU)
  • Washi tape
As always, we would love for you to play along with us.

Shopping Our Stash #311 - CAS

Hello crafty pals!

Thanks for coming by today to check out the newest challenge from the SHOPPING OUR STASH crew!!

In honour of National Simplicity Day on July 12, our challenge to you this week is to keep it clean and simple.

I got a little carried away making my CAS cards and might have made a more than a few...hey...at least I got to practice my super not so great masking skills!

On the first card I used the large oval punch to make a mask, the second one I just cut. Both times I used a post it note to make the masks, that way it stays in place but doesn't stick or wreck the paper underneath when you pull it off!

Have I mentioned how much I completely ADORE the bright colours of distress inks...carved pumpkin, picked raspberry, twisted citron, wilted violet and peacock feathers together...come on now...it just doesn't get any better than that!!

Shite I used to make these cards:

  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Twisted Citron, Wilted Violet, Peacock Feathers, Picked Raspberry & Carved Pumpkin distress inks (Tim Holtz)
  • Tuxedo Black ink (Memento)
  • Gorgeous Grunge stamp set (SU)
  • Sentiment Sampler stamp set (Paper Smooches)
  • Large oval punch (SU)
As always, we would love for you to play along with us.

Pride (in the name of LOVE)

Sometimes weird card making ideas come to me in the middle of the night - like 3 am (stupid brain).

This was one of them.

Back story - one of my super awesome co-workers and her partner got engaged at Pride Toronto a few weeks ago!

I knew I wanted to make them an engagement card.

While I should have been sleeping, my poor wee brain was formulating making a congratulations card utilizing the colours of the Pride flag!!

YAY, sometimes my wee brain has a good idea!

Here's what it came up with:

In retrospect I wish I had used a different green or blue, the two seem to just meld into each other without as much contrast as I was hoping for.

Nonetheless I am super happy with how this one came out and I am sending out much love and happiness to the newly engaged L & A

Shite I used to make this card:
  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Candied Apple, Carved Pumpkin, Squeezed Lemonade, Lucky Clover, Peacock Feathers & Wilted Violet distress inks (Tim Holtz)
  • Black Tuxedo ink (Memento)
  • Gorgeous Grunge stamp set (SU)
  • Sentiment Sampler stamp set (Paper Smooches)
  • Fishtail / Banner die set (Your Next Stamp)

Shopping Our Stash #310 - Flag Day

Greetings friends!

Thanks for stopping by today to check out the latest challenge from the crew at SHOPPING OUR STASH

With both Canada Day and Independence Day happening this week, we want you to see the colours (or colors) of your flag!!

I made a red and white Canadiana inspired tag.

Some of my very best memories as a kid were camping in Algonquin Park with my family every summer.

I might have had my first kiss right there at Rock Lake!!

My dad used to take us "moose hunting" at dusk, which really meant we were driving around looking for wildlife...we saw lots of beavers, lots of moose and the occasional bear!

I owe my super amazing campfire skills to my dad and what we call "the Whiteman school of fire building."

I didn't have any twine to  match my tag, so I pulled some white twine through the Candied Apple ink pad a few times and voila, matchy matchy!

Shite I used to make this tag:

  • Kraft tag (Recollections)
  • Candied Apple distress ink (Tim Holtz)
  • Whip Cream ink (Fun Stampers Journey)
  • Water spritzer (SU)
  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Fishtail / Banner die set (Your Next Stamp)
  • Canada themed stamps (Studio G)
  • Maple leaf punch (Martha Stewart)
  • White twine
As always we'd love for you to join the crew and play along.
