SoSS #104 - T is for Tissue

Looks like this dreary weather has finally caught up to dear ole Edna.

She's looking very comfy on the couch with her blankie and array of discarded tissues.

She challenged the sisterhood to put those disgusting used tissues to good work and use them on our projects.

Be sure to check out the SoSS BLOG to see what our reigning queen and the rest of the sisterhood created!

Here's what I made:

Not sure if you can see it in the picture, but each layer of cardstock (red / blue / white) has a layer of crinkled tissue on top.

On the top white layer, I stamped directly on the tissue before crumpling it up and adhering it to the cardstock.

Shite I used to make this card:

  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Red cardstock (Recollections)
  • Not Quite Navy cardstock (SU)
  • Faded Jeans distress ink (Tim Holtz)
  • Faded Jeans and Barn Door distress markers (Tim Holtz)
  • Mini ink blender tool (Tim Holtz)
  • Tuxedo Black ink (Memento)
  • London Sights stamp set (Tim Holtz)
  • Tissue paper (Dollarama)
As always, we could love for you to join the sisterhood and play along.

Shopping Our Stash #341 - You Stamped With WHAT????

Greetings crafty friends!!

Thanks for stopping by to check out the latest challenge from the crew at SHOPPING OUR STASH

This week we want you to see you stamp with some things that are...well...NOT stamps!!

You can still use some stamps / sentiments, but we need to see something on your project that you stamped with something other than a stamp.

I may have gotten slightly carried away stamping with miscellaneous things in the craft room to make the background for my card...but it was sooooooooooooooooooo much fun!!!

Here's what the background looked like before I finished off the card:

And here's the final product:

Shite I used to make this card:

  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Mermaid Lagoon distress ink (Tim Holtz) on the inside of a padded envelope (like bubble wrap)
  • Stream alcohol ink (Ranger) on the lid from an embossing powder
  • Wild Plum alcohol ink (Ranger) on a jar lid
  • Smooch on a lid from a distress paint
  • Gold stickles on a pencil eraser
  • White acrylic paint (ArtDeco) on a dowel
  • Green acrylic paint (Martha Stewart) on the end of a paintbrush
  • Versamark ink
  • Black embossing powder (Recollections)
  • Ruler
  • Fine tip Sharpie
  • Purely Random stamp set (Tim Holtz)
Phew!! That's a lot of stuff to make a background!

As always, we could love for you to join our crew and play along!

SoSS #103 - G is for Galaxy

Greetings intergalactic pals!

Thanks for stopping by today to check out the latest challenge from Edna and the sisterhood of snarky stampers!

This one is for all of us nerdsters...from wherever you are in the galaxy...whether your preference be for Star Wars (like me), Star Trek, Doctor Who, or just stars and moons and planets.

I was so pleased with how my galaxy background turned out, I added a black heart, some bling and a Darth Vader quote and turned it into a valentine card for the Kevinator!

This was my first attempt at a galaxy sky background, it was super fun and easy to make and there are loads of tutorials online to show you how to do it.

I felt they were all a bit too bright for my Darth Vader theme, so I splattered some black paint on at the end to make it a bit darker...much better!!

Shite I used to make this card:

  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Watercolour paper (Michaels)
  • Black cardstock (Recollections)
  • Mustard Seed, Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet, Faded Jeans and Black Soot distress inks (Tim Holtz)
  • Mini ink blender tool (Tim Holtz)
  • Large heart punch (SU)
  • Silver bling (Michaels)
  • Toothbrush
  • White and black acrylic paint (Michaels)
  • Computer generated sentiment
As always we would love for you to join the sisterhood and play along.

You can find all the details on the SoSS BLOG.

While you are there, please share some loves and comments with the rest of the sisterhood and our reigning queen.

Shopping Our Stash #340 - Olympics

Greetings crafty friends!

Thanks for stopping by today to check out the latest challenge from the crew at SHOPPING OUR STASH

With the winter olympics starting soon, we are turning our attention to sports!

That means that your project needs to feature a sport...any sport!

I am both a #proudcanuck and a hockey fan, so I tried to replicate a Team Canada hockey jersey (albeit a short sleeved one)

You know how hockey jerseys have that meshy kind of texture to them? I used the reverse side of the swiss dots embossing folder to try to recreate that.

Shite I used to make this card:

  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Red and black cardstock (Recollections)
  • T shirt die
  • Swiss Dots embossing folder (Provo Craft)
  • Maple leaf punch (EK Success)
  • Fishtail / Banner die set (Your Next Stamp)
  • Tuxedo Black ink (Memento)
  • #proudcanuck stamp (Michaels)
As always we would love for you to join our crew and play along.
