With Sympathy

Sympathy cards are the hardest cards for me to make.

Having to make one usually means someone I know and care for has lost someone dear to them.

I never know what to write inside sympathy cards that doesn't sound just awful.

This past week one of my co-workers lost her mom.

I wanted her to know that we were thinking of her.

This is what I came up with:

What I used to make this card:

  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Woodlands embossing folder (SU)
  • Lovely as a Tree stamp set (SU)
  • Sentiment Sampler stamp set (Paper Smooches)
  • Weathered Wood, Frayed Burlap and Mowed Lawn distress inks (Tim Holtz)
  • Fishtail / Banner die set (Your Next Stamp)
  • Mini ink blender tool (Tim Holtz)
I used this tutorial as a basis for my card, I like the effect of stamping right on the embossing folder to get the green trees in the background.

SoSS #47 - Y is for Yodelayeeeehoooooo

Hello snarky pals! Glad you came back to the sisterhood to join Edna and my snarky sisters for a new challenge.

This time around we want to see your music inspired project. Edna is belting out a tune on whatever instrument that is you use to yodel, for some reason I hear her yelling....RICOLA

By the way the instrument (alphorn or alpenhorn or alpine horn) is called a labrophone...thank you Google.

Here's my music inspired Christmas card, because you know I am in FULL ON Christmas card making mode.

This is totally a stash card, everything I used to make it has been in my crafty stash for at least a year, likely longer.

Shite I used to make this card:

  • Black cardstock (Recollections)
  • Music design paper, "Woodland Winter" (Bo Bunny)
  • Washi tape (SU)
  • Bits Die Cut Shapes "Kringle & Co." (American Crafts)
Be sure to visit the SoSS BLOG for all the details on the challenge and while you are there be sure to check out the projects by our Guest Designer Gloria and all the snarky sisters!

We'd love for you to play along, you have until 11:55 pm on Friday November 27 to upload your project to the SoSS Blog...maybe you will be our next Queen or Princess of Snark!!

Shopping Our Stash #227 - Howdy Partner

Howdy Partner!!

It's Tuesday, that means it's time for a new SHOPPING OUR STASH challenge.

This week the SOS crew want to see something Western (US Western) on your project: cowfolk, horses, cowboy boots etc.

For me, Western themes always bring to mind Home on the Range, which after all IS known as the "unofficial anthem of the West."

So that was my inspiration for my card, specifically the line...where the deer and the antelope play (that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!)

Here's my card for the challenge:

I wanted the deer to look a little distressed (after all maybe his head is hanging on someone's wall somewhere, that is certainly distressing!!)so after I heat embossed him I gave a good old rub down with the sanding block and then some Frayed Burlap distress ink.

Shite I used to make this card:

  • Kraft cardstock (Recollections)
  • White embossing powder (Recollections)
  • Versamark ink
  • Stamp set (not sure who made it? was a gift from one of my snarky sisters)
  • Kringle & Co design paper (American Crafts)
  • Mini ink blending tool (Tim Holtz)
  • Frayed Burlap distress ink (Tim Holtz)
  • Fishtail / Banner die set (Your Next Stamp)
Check out the SHOPPING OUR STASH BLOG for all the details on the challenge and while you are there please show the rest of the crew some crafty lovin!

We'd love you to join us and play along!

Shopping Our Stash #226 - Light My Fire

This week the SHOPPING OUR STASH crew want you to Light My Fire

We want to see something related to light (light bulb, spotlight, street light, fire place, candles, etc.) somewhere on your project.

Here's what I made for the challenge - yay I used a stamp set that had never before seen ink!!

Shite I used to make this card:
  • White cardstock (Recollections)
  • It's a Celebration "Chevron" design paper (Carta Bella)
  • We Totally Click stamp set (Paper Smooches)
  • Tuxedo Black ink (Memento)
