Scraptures WCW - Sept 30, 2015

Happy last day of the month - tomorrow is October!! How did THAT happen so fast??

Here is my Wild Card Wednesday project for this week. This month's SCRAPTURES kit features "Color Vibe Bold" and "Summer Vibe" from Simple Stories.

Loving the bright bold colours in the papers in this month's kit. I'm still trying to use sketches to alter up the designs of my cards a bit, started with a pretty simple sketch for this card, pleased with how it came out with all the different colours.

I started with Sketch #5 that I found HERE.

Shite I used to make this card:

  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Color Vibe Bold design paper, "Peacock" and "Olive" (Simple Stories)
  • Summer Vibe SN@P cards (Simple Stories)
  • Summer Vibe Tidbits (Simple Stories)

Let's see what you can come up with using a sketch and this month's kit!!

Shopping Our Stash # 221 - Wooden It Be Nice

This week's SHOPPING OUR STASH theme is "Wooden It Be Nice"

The SOS crew want to see some kind of wooden thing on your project, could be a wooden embellishment, wood letters, veneer, wood themed design paper or woodgrain embossing.

I went with the later. I inked up the inside of my woodgrain embossing folder with black ink and then ran it through the Cuttlebug. I was trying to make it look like the bats were flying through the forest on a dark and spooky night!

That's right, as the weather gets colder I want to start making Halloween cards, I know it's still over a month away, but I have a LOT of Halloween themed things in my stash!

So here's what I made for the challenge:

Shite I used to make this card:

  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Black cardstock (Recollections)
  • Crushed Curry cardstock (SU)
  • Bat punch (SU)
  • 1 3/8" circle punch (SU)
  • Woodgrain embossing folder (Sizzix)
  • Tuxedo Black ink (Memento)
  • All Holidays stamp set (SU)
  • Fishtail and Banner die set (Your Next Stamp)
Want to play along? We'd love for you to join us!! Check out the SHOPPING OUR STASH BLOG for all the details on the challenge and while you are there please share some crafty lovin' with the rest of the crew!!

SoSS #43 - P is for Punk - STEAMPUNK!!

YAY!!!! It's Steampunk time!!! Not all of the sisters love love love the steampunk genre...but I sure do!

What is more fun than a weird mish mash of pointing fingers, dudes in big hats with moustaches, bicycles, clocks and various flying machines???

I have WAY too much steampunk stuff in my crafty stash, but mostly I just like to admire it, not actually use it on projects ***gasp***

It's been a while since I made an ATC, so that's what I worked on for this challenge. I had so much fun making the first one, I made another!

Shite I used to make these ATCs:

I'm also entering my ATCs into the Wicked Wednesday challenge this week as both my ATCs have numbers on them.

This week the SHOPPING OUR STASH crew are sending us "Outta This World."

We want to see aliens (monstahs would also work). For those of you not quite so alien inclined, you can use something celestial - moon, stars, planets, etc.

I  made this card and THEN thought to myself....wait...is Marvin the Martian an alien?? I think so, he lives in outer space...drives a spaceship...battles Duck Dodgers...he's an alien from Mars right??? That's what I am going with!

I have a friend who has a Marvin the Martian tattoo...thinking this would be a most awesome birthday card for him!

Jingle Belles / Shopping Our Stash BONUS CHALLENGE

This week the  SHOPPING OUR STASH crew is celebrating "Christmas in September" with the gals from JINGLE BELLES

Remember, it's never too early to get a jump start on all those cards you are going to need in December!

In an effort to use different designs I started with this sketch that I found HERE

Shite I used to make this card:

  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • December Documented design paper (Simple Stories)
  • Chipboard flower and sentiment (bought at a yard sale at least a year ago)

Shopping Our Stash #218 - Mirror Mirror

Mirror mirror on the wall...

This week's SHOPPING OUR STASH challenge is to use something reflective.

I found these pre-punched and embossed red metallic hearts in my stash of things I plan to come back to later (which I hardly ever do). I think Leslie calls them UFOs (unfinished objects).

Part of the fun of using reflective materials is trying to find an angle of taking the picture where you don't see yourself in the reflection lol...not sure I entirely succeeded.

For the Mirror Mirror challenge I thought I would make a wedding card as two of my JHS co-workers are getting married this month and it never hurts to have a stash of wedding, anniversary, Valentine cards on hand.

Here's what I came up with for the challenge:

Shite I used to make this card:

  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Red metallic cardstock (Dollarama)
  • Swiss Dots embossing folder (Provo Craft)
  • #hashtags stamp set (Tim Holtz)
  • Tuxedo Black ink (Memento)
  • Fishtail / Banner die set (Your Next Stamp)
We'd love for you to play along with the Shopping Our Stash crew and see what you can come up with for the challenge.

Check out the SHOPPING OUR STASH BLOG for all the details on the challenge and while you are there visit the blogs of the rest of the design team and show them some crafty love!

Visit the SoSS BLOG for all the details on the challenge and while you are there be sure to show the sisters and our special guest designer some lovin!!

I call my card for this challenge "Ode to the Old Pot & Pan" as this is one of his most favourite all time jokes...and now me wee bruver is carrying on the tradition...so proud...I am note sure how people grew up in a family where they didn't know this joke...clearly that is NOT my family...again....so proud

So for my dad (my pot and pan) and for my brother (me wee bruver) I ever so proudly give you my pull my finger card.

Shite I used to make this card:

  • Steampunk design paper (Hot Off The Press)

Shopping Our Stash #217 - Put a Bird On It

Happy first day of the month! Can you believe it's September?? One more week til all the wee Southern Ontario kiddies go back to school! It really IS the most wonderful time of the year!!!

This week the Shopping Our Stash crew would like you to "Put a Bird On It"

We don't care what kind of bird or how big that bird is...we just wanna see a bird somewhere on your project.

Visit the SHOPPING OUR STASH BLOG for all the details on the challenge and while you are there please show some lovin' to the other members of the team.

I am the most bird adverse person you will ever meet in your life...I don't like birds and birds don't like me, so I am kinda proud of myself for having not one but SEVEN birds on my card

Ya ya ya ok they are really small birds...whatever.

Here's what I came up with for the challenge:

Originally I planned to do black birds on a white background, but thought...oh that's too easy...forgetting momentarily how much I dislike smudgy white embossing powder...nonetheless I carried on and am somewhat satisfied with the white birds on the black background (somewhat).

Shite I used to make this card:

  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Basic Black cardstock (SU)
  • Versamark
  • White embossing powder (Recollections)
  • Life's Possibilities stamp set (Tim Holtz / Stampers Anonymous)
  • Chit Chat stickers (Tim Holtz)
We'd love for you to join the Shopping Our Stash crew and play along with us!
