Valentine head start...

We're going to do a Valentine card making class at work for our United Way campaign. I wanted to do a few different folds and have been having so much fun with the twisted easel card and criss cross fold that I used them as templates for these two cards we'll be making.

This twisted easel card is smaller than other ones I've made recently, I wanted to make sure it would fit in standard envelope, so it's 4.25" x 4.25".  This one uses all SU supplies (pretty in pink, early espresso and whisper white cardstock, early espresso ink, DP, Filled With Love stamp set and small heart punch).

Here's what it looks like closed...

And here it is open, I used the large heart punch on dimensionals to keep the easel in place:

And here's the criss cross fold card, for this one I used DP from CTMH, used the scraps to paper piece the owl's belly, pretty in pink and whisper white cardstock and the owl and scallop punches from SU.

Yellow Dog #2

Still playing around with the settings on my new digital camera...yellow dog #2 was in the craft room this morning (which makes him fair game for pictures). I have never met a dog as opposed to having his picture taken as Gordon is...
Anyway, I got one of him today...so here he is...giving me his very best "really you're going to take my picture again" look.

#pinkietickle challenge

It's only Saturday and I already have my #pinkietickle challenge done this weekend, two days ahead of my Monday deadline. I am surprised I got a card made at all with the number of times I remade it this morning!
It's supposed to look like a butt...with black and purple skull underwear...I wish I had black and purple skull underwear!!! I added the ruffled ribbon waistband at the top because I didn't like how the top looked without it.
Originally I gave her a tramp stamp tattoo, but decided I liked the butt cheek better...I am sure that's what CTMH had in mind (NOT!!!) when they made this stamp.
I've also been playing around with the settings on the new digital camera I got for Christmas (thanks Mum!!!) and it has a few built in frames...I thought this one was fun, makes it look like a naughty polaroid someone took of their butt...hahahaha...yes, I am THAT lame!!

What's in it:
Cardstock - Pretty in Pink - SU
Design Paper - From a Halloween pack that I can't remember the name of - SU
Ribbon - Wisteria Wonder Ruffled Ribbon
Stamp - Hope - CTMH
Ink - Basic Black - SU

Thanks for lookin!!

Getting caught up...

I spent this morning cracking into my January card kit and getting caught up on some challenges at Scraptures (three in one morning!! look at me go!!!).

The first card is a twisted easel card for Christa's wild card Wednesday challenge for January 2. Everything I used was from the Scraptures January card kit. Here's the card from the front:

And here's what it looks like open:

Aren't those penguins just the cutest thing?? My cousin Sarah is getting married in February at a resort close to Peterborough and the theme of their wedding is "Winter Wonderland." I think this card will make a perfect wedding card for her and her new hubby!

This next card is for Christa's wild card Wednesday challenge for January 9. The challenge was to use acetate on a card. I started with 1/2 a sheet of acetate transparency...and again, everything else was from the Scraptures January card kit.

This last card is for Chelle's Finally Friday challenge from yesterday and the challenge was to use the stamp set (Lawn Fawn "Frosties") that came with the January card kit. I followed Chelle's card pretty closely, using the same DP as the card base (I never ever do that!!!) and used Island Indigo, Taken with Teal (SU) and Grey Wool (CTMH) for the snowflakes...such a cute card...and it was REALLY fast to make!

Thanks for lookin!!

I made a tag!!! I made a tag!!!

I rarely impress myself when I make a crafty project...today I impressed myself...which impresses me LOL

I have said before how completely awestruck & enamoured I am with Tim Holtz and his crafty style...talk about impressive! I've always been intimidated to try and make things like he creates....they just seem so totally beyond my capacity!! I decided this year I was going to try and follow along with the 12 tags of 2013 that he posts on his blog...so today I tackled the January tag...and I have to say I am pretty happy with how it came out...now keep in mind he posts REALLY GOOD instructions on his blog...so I tried to follow along as best I could with what I had on hand.

Here's a link to Tim Holtz's January tag:

http://timholtz.com/12-tags-of-2013-january

And here's my tag:

Here's how I made my version of the tag...

I didn't have a manilla tag to start with, so I started with a white tag and used Tim Holtz Adirondack Alcohol Ink (butterscotch) to colour the tag.

Then I stamped on some clock / number images in a variety of colours using a Crafters Workshop mask that I have and SU inks.

Next I held the tag as far away from me as I could reach and spritzed it with Mister Huey's Warm Calico color mist.

Then I punched some silver and gold cogs, adhered them the to the tag, trimmed up the edges and ran it through my CB using the square lattice EF (I really like the look of the inlaid embossing).

For the sentiment I used the alcohol ink on another piece of CS and distressed the edges. Both the sentiment and the edges were done with Early Espresso (SU) ink.

Next I added the filmstrip ribbon and sprocket gears (both Tim Holtz).

For the ribbon, I wanted to do something similar to what Tim Holtz had posted in his instructions....for mine, I started with a plain piece of white ribbon, dyed it with the same butterscotch alcohol ink and then stamped on it with brown Staz-On...I am over the moon happy with how this came out...here's a closer look at the ribbon.

Warm Fuzzies Clear It Out Challenge

Two lovely friends of mine, BARB and LYNN (visit their blogs by clicking on their names) are on the design team for the CLEAR IT OUT CHALLENGE BLOG.
The goal of the challenges are to use items in your craft stash...well there's a novel idea...actually USE some of the stuff I already have????

This week's challenge is Warm Fuzzies...as soon as I read that I thought, ooooohhhhh that red and white flocked damask design paper I have somewhere would be good for this challenge...it feels like velvet...hmmmmm....now what to use with it???

Some of my crafty goals for 2013 include using what's already in my stash, to try and use colour combinations that I don't always use (cherry cobbler / early espresso / old olive) and to try and make different sizes and layouts of cards than my usual layered 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" card.

So here's what I came up with for this challenge..a 6x6" card with wonky offset layers. Everything I used for the card is from my stash...some (like the damask paper) has been there for quite a while. The stamp set is relatively new, but this is the first time it's seen ink.

What's in it:
Cardstock - Whisper White & Basic Black (SU)
Flocked Damask Design Paper (SU)
Black Striped Ribbon (SU)
Ink - Black Staz-On
Sentiment - Tim Holtz Idea-ology Chit Chat Stickers
Image - Tim Holtz / Stampers Anonymous "Steampunk"

Scraptures Tuesday's Temptation Sketch Challenge January 1, 2013

First day of 2013 is off to a good start so far. Christa posted the Scraptures Tuesday's Temptation Sketch Challenge on the blog today, click HERE to check out the original sketch and Christa's take on it.

My goal this year is to work on 8x8 layouts, I have a bunch of SU scrapbooks that I bought for a great deal off the clearance rack...so I want to focus mostly on 8x8 layouts.

My original plan was to do a one page layout based on the sketch, but I quickly realized I was not going to have enough room, so I did a two page layout to incorporate more aspects of the sketch.

Part of the challenge was to do a layout without pictures, which was hard for me, I usually start with the pictures and plan the layout around them.

Here's page 1

And here's page 2

Everything I used on both pages is from a scrapbook kit from SU from 2011, feels good to use up some of the supplies I have been "hoarding."

Drunken Stampers Bonus Challenge - Toast to the New Year

This week brings you a Bonus Drunken Stampers challenge. "Toast to the New Year," we are after all the Drunken Stampers...so this challenge is to make a project featuring drinks to celebrate the new year. You can check out all the details for the challenge here on the DRUNKEN STAMPERS BLOG

I want to take this challenge to say cheers to all the members of the Drunken Stampers DT team this term (Barb, Deanne, Elizabeth, Jackie, Katie, KelliJo, Peggy, Spike & Suzanne) it's been great to work along side you all and get to know you better.

I also want to send a cheers to all of you who played along with us for the challenges!! Wouldn't be nearly as much fun without you!!

So here's my card for this challenge. I have always seen these drink cards made with vellum and wanted to give it a go for this last challenge, all in all I am pretty happy with how it came out. I punched 2/3 of a vellum circle for the margarita glass and 1/2 a large oval for the base. For the margarita, I punched 1/2 of the same circle I used for the glass. Not sure if you can see it in the picture or not but I made a sugar rim on the glass with crystal effects and chunky glitter (look at me using glitter three challenges in a row!!!).Because it's winter (at least it it here in Southern Ontario) I gave the glass a little frayed ribbon scarf.

What's in it:
Cardstock - Gumball Green, Daffodil Delight, Primrose Petals, Marina Mist
Wisteria Wonder & Whisper White (SU)
Vellum for margarita glass
Stamps - Tart & Tangy (SU) & Happy Everything (Lawn Fawn)
Ink - Gumball Green (SU)
Ribbon - Gumball Green Stitched Satin (SU)
Punches - 1 1/4" circle, 2 1/2" circle, large oval (SU)
Glossy Accents (Inkssentials)
Chunky Glitter
Glue dots & dimensionals
