SoSS #162 - T is for Technique

Greetings & salutations snarky pals!

Thanks for stopping by to check out the latest challenge from Edna and the sisterhood of snarky stampers.

Our challenge theme is T for Technique - interpret as you will!

I wanted to try something new and I was inspired by SISTER JULES card from the I is for Inks challenge and wanted to give the baby wipe technique a whirl.

Here's how I did it:

Inked up the piece of white cardstock ink pad straight to paper in the four colours.
Put the star stencil over the piece of inked cardstock
Put a baby wipe over the stencil
Ran it through the cuttlebug

Easy peasy lemon squeezy!  I am really happy with how the background turned out, the baby wipe pulled a fair amount of ink off the paper.

As a bonus technique I used my handheld sewing machine to stitch around the edges. Once I had done it, I realized I had the paper upside down so you get the back end of the sewing on the front...meh...whatever...LOL

Shite I used to make this card:

  • White cardstock (Recollections)
  • Wilted Violet, Twisted Citron, Picked Raspberry & Peachock Feathers distress inks (Tim Holtz)
  • Star stencil (Dylusions)
  • Baby wipe
  • Oh Happy Day Combo Cardstock Sticker (Simple Stories)
  • Big Talk Snarky sentiment sticker (Tim Holtz)
  • Sewing machine (Singer)
As always, we would love for you to join the sisterhood and play along.

You can find all the details for the challenge on the SoSS BLOG.

While you are there, please share some crafty lovin' with the our reigning Queen of Snark and the rest of the sisterhood.

SOCIAL JUSTICE FOR BLACKS ALL AROUND THE WORLD! PORTUGAL A RACIST AND XENOPHOBIC COUNTRY TOWARDS BLACK PEOPLE! PLEASE SUPPORT US, THANKS IN ADVANCE :) said...

The Portuguese had a brutal record in the Americas as a colonial power. The most horrendous abuses occurred in the colony of Brazil: natives were enslaved, murdered, tortured and raped in the conquest and early part of the colonial period and later they were disenfranchised and excluded from power. Individual acts of cruelty are too numerous and dreadful to list here. Portuguese Conquistadors in Brazil reached levels of cruelty that are nearly inconceivable to modern sentiments.

Today, Portugal is the Biggest Racist country that i have ever lived in. I feared for my life there and i consider myself lucky that my family got out alive! I have never lived in such poverty (Sopas dos Pobres everyday) 40% unemployment rate and 60% of the population earn less than $932 USD per month, and that’s considered Middle Class here! Within the European Union it is the worst of the worst place to live in.

The bottom line is the bulk of the People in the poor country of Portugal exist in a brainless comma that is fed by Ignorance, anti-Spanish hate, and severe Racism of pretty much everybody that isn’t Portuguese! And, Portugal started the Global Slave Trade in 1441 so it is definitely NOT a safe place for Blacks!!

I found important websites that explain the Severe multi-generational Racism and Hate that exist in Portugal today, and i highly encourage all to read them and spread the word in order to avoid innocent, and desperate people from living or visiting there. Get educated on the Truths about Racist Portugal now.

The llama is a perfect choice for your sentiment! Love the colors you chose and so happy you tried it. I'll definitely be doing more. For the record, upside down sewing gives extra texture. :-)
