Scraptures Wild Card Wednesday - March 30, 2016

Time for the last SCRAPTURES Wild Card Wednesday for March.

I've had fun making birthday cards this month with the "Let's Party" collection by Simple Stories. I love the bright colours and the designs of the papers.

Because it's the last week of the month (and I can't count) I made two cards this week.

The first card will be for Kevin's aunt who has a birthday in early April. She is in her 70's so there will be lots of candles!

This second card is for my dear old pot & pan (my dad) who is turning 70!!??!! on April 26.

Shite I used to make these cards:

  • Let's Party "Make a Wish" design paper (Simple Stories)
  • Let's Party "It's Your Day" design paper (Simple Stories)
  • Let's Party "Pocket Pieces" (Simple Stories)
  • Let's Party "Bits n Pieces" (Simple Stories)

Shopping Our Stash #244 - Cuckoo for You

Thanks for stopping by to check out the latest challenge from SHOPPING OUR STASH

This week's challenge is hosted by CHANA and the theme is Cuckoo for You. This week we want to see clocks (stamps, paper, dies) on your project.

My project was inspired by Tim Holtz Tags of 2013 - August. Why not recreate it in March 2016 right??

Here's my tag:

I started with a manilla tag and made the background with pumice stone distress stain, spritzed with water.

Once that was dry I coloured the Union Jack stamp with Barn Door and Faded Jeans distress markers and stamped it in the centre of the tag. Then I just went to town layering all the other images, including Big Ben on the left edge of the tag.

SHITE I USED TO MAKE THIS TAG:

  • Manilla craft tag (Ranger)
  • Pumice Stone distress stain (Tim Holtz)
  • Faded Jeans and Barn Door distress markers (Tim Holtz)
  • Faded Jeans distress ink (Tim Holtz)
  • Tuxedo Black ink (Memento)
  • London Sights stamp set (Tim Holtz)
  • The Journey stamp set (Tim Holtz)
  • Steampunk stamp set (Tim Holtz)
  • Collections from the Journey stamp (7 Gypsies)
  • Mini ink blender tool (Tim Holtz)
  • Jute string (Tim Holtz)
  • Sentiment from "Authentic Memories" burlap kit (Tim Holtz)
As always we would love you to play along with us. All the details for the challenge are on the SHOPPING OUR STASH BLOGWhile you are there please share some crafty love with the rest of the design team.

SoSS #55 - L is for Legend

Edna is surrounded by her most favouritest mythical creatures for this challenge. Can you believe how freakin' awesome the graphic for this challenge is?? I mean really??!!??

Sister Lee does such an awesome job creating these for us for every single challenge, most of the time the sisterhood fears that our projects don't live up to the awesomeness of the graphic!

I feel like it has been a while since I got a good old snark on, and I was totally feeling it for this challenge.

Luckily enough, when I googled unicorn digital stamps, I came across these freakin' awesome gems from USELESS TRINKETS. If you haven't checked out the freebies...you totally should!! There is a zombie unicorn!!!! A ZOMBIE UNICORN!!!

I loved the images so much I made not one, not two, but THREE cards for this challenge (so unlike me) and I has soooooo much fun colouring the images (again, so unlike me).

Yeah, I am saving the ZOMBIE UNICORN for last, but feel free to scroll down if you want to see it right away in all it's blood splattered gloriousness.

Did I mention that the USELESS TRINKETS freebies also include sentiments??? Really!! You NEED to go check them out!!

No this isn't the zombie unicorn, this is Cookie Jar the Unicorn, isn't he so cute and squishy??

No this isn't the zombie unicorn either, and NO it's not a picture of me before I have my first cuppa tea on a Monday morning. This is Fluffy Gustav.

Something very unfortunate has happened to Cookie Jar and now he is an Undead Unicorn Zombie!!

SHITE I USED TO MAKE THESE CARDS:

  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Cookie Jar and Fluffy Gustav images and sentiments (Useless Trinkets)
  • Spun Sugar and Weathered Wood distress markers (Tim Holtz)
  • Key Lime, Rambunctious Red, Playful Purple, Yellow Blaze, Sunset Orange, Fandango Pink, Forest Green, Hot Aqua and Tuxedo Black markers (Bic Mark-It)

As always, we'd love for you to join the sisterhood and play along with us...what legendary creatures (or people) would you bring to the party?

Check out the SoSS BLOG for all the details on the challenge and while you are there show the snarky sisters and our
guest designer some crafty lovin!

Happy undead unicorn zombie dreams!!

St. Patrick's Day Anniversary

Nine years ago today...sometimes it feels like a lifetime ago, other times it feels like yesterday.

I am biased because it was my wedding, but I think ours was one of the best weddings I have ever been to! How could it not be?? We got married on St. Patrick's Day!!

I knew right away when I saw the Tim Holtz burlap kits at Michael's that I wanted to use our wedding picture.

SHITE I USED TO MAKE THIS:
  • Authentic Moments burlap kit (Tim Holtz)
  • Ephemera Pack (Tim Holtz)
  • Frayed Burlap distress ink (Tim Holtz)
  • Mini ink blending tool (Tim Holtz)
  • Glossy Accents (Ranger)
  • Metal flower embellishment (my stash)

Scraptures Wild Card Wednesday - March 16, 2016

Happy Wednesday! Thanks for coming by today to check out my newest SCRAPTURES Wild Card Wednesday project.

The Journalling Card Elements in this month's kit make it quick and easy to put together some super cute birthday cards.

I love how the words fade away in spots on the "It's Your Day" paper.

When I saw the pickle, I knew that would be for a co-worker who has his birthday in April, he's a practical joker so I know he will appreciate the "big dill"

Shite I used to make this card:

  • Let's Party "It's Your Day" design paper (Simple Stories)
  • Let's Party "Journalling Card Elements" (Simple Stories)
  • Let's Party "Bits n Pieces" (Simple Stories)
  • White cardstock (Fireworx - not in kit)

Shopping Our Stash # 243 - Oh My Lucky Charms!!

Happy Tuesday crafty friends! Thanks for popping by me wee blog today to check out the latest SHOPPING OUR STASH challenge.

This week, in honour of St. Patrick's Day, the SOS crew would like to see St. Patrick's Day theme on your project, or if that's not your thing, you can use a charm(s), or use the color green predominately.

I used the large heart punch (SU) to make my shamrock mask (I just hand cut the stem) and used a pencil eraser in Peeled Paint distress ink to create my shamrock.

Initially I stamped the sentiment right onto the shamrock and thought "UGH that looks awful" so I made the banner across the centre to cover it up LOL

I added the washi tape just for a splash of colour.

SHITE I USED TO MAKE THIS CARD:

  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Peeled Paint distress ink (Tim Holtz)
  • Large heart punch (SU)
  • Happy Everything stamp set (Lawn Fawn)
  • Pencil with eraser
  • Washi tape
As always, we'd love for you to play along with us. Visit the SOS BLOG for all the details on the challenge and while you are there please share some crafty lovin' with the rest of the crew!

Scraptures Wild Card Wednesday - March 9, 2016

This month's SCRAPTURES kit has been great for increasing my stash of birthday cards. I love that the papers would work for anyone, not too girlie, not too masculine.

I absolutely adore this lime green polka dot "Yippee" design paper. I used to have a pair of lime green shorts with white polka dots that looked just like the paper. I loved those shorts...how I miss them!!

Shite I used to make this card:

  • Let's Party "Yippee" design paper (Simple Stories)
  • Let's Party "Journalling Card Elements" (Simple Stories)
  • Let's Party Bits n Pieces (Simple Stories)
  • White cardstock (Fireworx - not in kit)

Shopping Our Stash #242 - In a Galaxy Far Far Away

This is what happens when the SHOPPING OUR STASH crew lets me pick a theme for a challenge.

I nerd out and want to do something Star Wars related. As a result, we are all heading to A Galaxy Far Far Away.

Your project doesn't have to be Star Wars related, but we do want to see something space related - aliens, planets, UFO's...you get the idea.

I love these little Galaxy Paper Tots by Kiki & Company so I knew I wanted to use them on my card.

One of my favourite scenes from the original Star Wars movie is when Princess Leia says to Han Solo, "I love you" and he responds "I know."

That is SO my husband and I (but in this scenario I am totally Han Solo).

Shite I used to make this card:
  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Galaxy Paper Tots (Kiki & Company)
  • Rock Star design paper (Bella Blvd.)
  • Chit Chat & Chit Chat Seasonal stickers (Tim Holtz)
  • Fine tip sharpie
As usual, we would love for you to play along with us! Visit the SHOPPING OUR STASH blog for all the details on the challenge and while you are there show the rest of the crew some crafty lovin!

SoSS #54 - G is for Gears

Once a year Edna turns into a total gearhead...she loves her some steampunk! So do I, so I am super happy this has turned into one of our annual SoSS challenges!

I love when a card turns out to be a two-fer. I needed a manly birthday card for one of the dudes on my team at work AND I needed to make a steampunk card AND I got a new set (or two) of Tim Holtz stamps and dies on sale at Michaels...I guess technically that's a three-fer.

Shite I used to make this card:

  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Steampunk design paper (Hot Off the Press)
  • Gears embossing folder(Darice)
  • Design tape (Tim Holtz)
  • Gauze tape (a gift from my snarky sister Jessi)
  • Filmstrip ribbon (Tim Holtz)
  • Tuxedo Black ink (Memento)
  • Mini ink blender tool (Tim Holtz)
  • Possibilities & Celebrate stamp & die sets (Tim Holtz)
  • Spinners (Tim Holtz)
  • Jute string (Tim Holtz)
As usual we would love you to join the sisterhood and play along!

Check out all the details for the challenge on the SoSS BLOG and while you are there please share some crafty loves with the rest of the snarky sisters and our guest designer.
