Scraptures Finally Friday - Feb 26, 2016

WOW, it's the already time for the last SCRAPTURES Finally Friday for the month.

It's been fun making cards and layouts with the July 2014 card kit which featured "We Are Family" by Echo Park.

This week I decided to make another 8x8 layout from our trip to PEI last summer to "match" THIS ONE I did a few weeks ago.

Yep, I am one of those people that LOVES selfies!! They are so much fun!! Joel and I took selfies all over the island.

This picture was taken on one of the awesome beaches in Prince Edward Island National Park, can't wait to go back there this summer!!

On this particular day we sat on the beach and watched the sunset, soooo beautiful!!

Shite I used to make this layout:

  • We Are Family design paper (Echo Park)
  • We Are Family element stickers (Echo Park)
  • We Are Family alpha stickers (Echo Park)

Shopping Our Stash # 240 - One is a Lonely Number

Thanks for coming by to check out the latest challenge from the crew at SHOPPING OUR STASH.

This week's challenge is brought to you by the number one, which is after all, the loneliest number.

We want to see your most awesome one layer card.

These are always a challenge for me, I like to add stuff, then some more stuff and layer on top of the card base in case I mess it up, I can pull it all off and start again.

This time around I stenciled AND stamped directly on the card base, with a fair amount of success if I do say so myself LOL

Shite I used to make this card:

  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Bubble stencil (Tim Holtz / Stampers Anonymous)
  • Life's Possibilities stamp set ((Tim Holtz / Stampers Anonymous)
  • Sentiment stamp (Tim Holtz / Stampers Anonymous)
  • Mini ink blender tool (Tim Holtz)
  • Mermaid Lagoon, Wilted Violet and Twisted Citron distress inks (Tim Holtz)
  • Tuxedo Black ink (Memento)
As always, we would love for you to play along with us!

Please check out all the details on the SHOPPING OUR STASH BLOG and while you are there please share some crafty loves with the rest of the crew.

I'd like to enter my one layer card into the following challenges:

Fantasy Stampers Challenge #56 - Just One Layer

CAS on Sunday: Challenge #77 - One Layer Wonder

SoSS #53 M is for Mixed Media

Greetings snarky pals!! Thanks for stopping by to check the latest SoSS challenge!

If you think Edna is looking a little discombobulated this week, have no fear, she is getting into the spirit for the M is for Mixed Media challenge.

Unlike some of my snarky sisters, I am NOT great at mixed media, I find I do so much overtop of other stuff you can't tell what I started with (sometimes that's a good thing).

I was thumbing through my Compendium of Curiosities (Volume II) for inspiration and came across something I thought I would be able to recreate and personalize. Check out page 74 if you want to see Tim Holtz's original project.

Here's my version

Hubby and I got married on March 17, 2007, hence the March calendar, the arrow pointing to the 17 and the bigger 17 in the corner. We went to Nevada and Arizona on our honeymoon, found a wee Nevada license plate, added that on.

I had fun making the background, I started with a page from an old thesaurus, inked it up with four different distress inks then stenciled over that, you can almost make out the honeycomb stencil in the background in green.

The fun part about mixed media projects is you can just keep adding more and more stuff until you are happy with it. I like mine to look distressed / grungy / messy and crowded. This is no time for CAS!

I had so much fun making this I see some more in my future! All in all this took just under an hour to make.

Shite I used to make this mixed media coaster:

  • 4x4 chipboard coaster
  • Thesaurus page
  • Fossilized Amber, Fired Brick, Frayed Burlap and Broken China distress inks (Tim Holtz)
  • Picket Fence, Brushed Pewter and Peeled Paint distress stains (Tim Holtz)
  • Fired Brick distress paint (Tim Holtz)
  • Mini ink blending tool (Tim Holtz)
  • Tissue tape (Tim Holtz)
  • Film strip ribbon (Tim Holtz)
  • Salvage stickers (Tim Holtz)
  • Seasonal chit chat stickers (Tim Holtz)
  • Jute string (Tim Holtz)
  • Core-dinations paper (Tim Holtz)
  • Sandpaper
  • mini light bulb (Tim Holtz)
  • Mini heart punch (SU)
  • Mini saftey pins
  • Button brads
  • Mini stapler
  • Honeycomb stencil
PHEW!!!! That's a LOT of stuff to use on a 4x4 coaster huh??!

Visit the SoSS BLOG for all the details on the challenge and while you are there please share some crafty love with our guest designer and the rest of the sisterhood.

As always, we would LOVE for you to play along with us!!

Scraptures Finally Friday Feb 19, 2016

I am having a lot of fun making Finally Friday cards and layouts for SCRAPTURES this month using the July 2014 kit featuring "We Are Family" by Echo Park.

I love the bright colours and designs in the paper pack kit.

Back to cards this week, another two quick and easy ones using the paper pack kit and some insta squares.

I think these would work well as Valentine or anniversary cards.

Shite I used to make these cards:

  • We Are Family paper pack kit (Echo Park)
  • SN@P Insta Squares (Simple Stories)

Shopping Our Stash #239 - Fantastic Plastic

Thanks for stopping by on this cold winter Tuesday to check out the latest SHOPPING OUR STASH challenge.

This week the crew are going all "Fantastic Plastic" and that means we want to see some plastic element on your project.

I knew exactly what piece of plastic I wanted to use. I am forever collecting those corrugated cardboard sleeves from cups of tea and the little green plastic "stick" that a certain purveyor of my favourite lattes pops in your cup to keep it warm.

Well here was a challenge I could actually USE one of those!!

Here's a closer look at the plastic "siren."

Shite I used to make this card:

  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Black cardstock (Recollections)
  • Color Chaos design paper (Bella Bvld)
  • Color Chaos Treasures & Text stickers (Bella Blvd)
  • Fresh Brewed die (Tim Holtz)
  • Paper crimper (Fiskars)
  • Tuxedo Black ink (Memento)
  • Mini ink blender tool (Tim Holtz)
  • Recycled plastic latte "stick" (Starbucks)

As usual, we would love you to play along with us!

I'm also linking my card up with the SISTERHOOD OF CRAFTERS for their "Warm Thoughts" challenge.

Scraptures Finally Friday - Feb 12, 2016

Switching it up a little this week for the SCRAPTURES Finally Friday with an 8x8 layout with my fave pic of the fam from our trip to PEI last summer.

I don't scrap nearly as much as I should, I have TONS of pictures that need to find happy little layouts of their own and once I get into it I do really like doing them...just that cards (for me) are soooooooo much faster!!

I'm hoping to do a "match" to this layout with another funny selfie we took at the same time.

Everything in the layout came in the paper pack kit (July 2014).

Shite I used to make this layout:

  • We Are Family paper pack kit (design paper and stickers - Echo Park)

Challenge Do Over - SOS #238 - Bent Out of Shape

You know sometimes you make a card for a challenge and think...meh...it'll do...but then it nags and nags and nags at you??

The latest SHOPPING OUR STASH challenge Bent Out of Shape was like that for me. I think I mentioned I wasn't feeling well last week and I was up making cards between 2:30 and 7:30 am one morning...well sometimes that doesn't lead to your best work.

Now, keep in mind, making shaped cards is not my favourite either...so those factors combined led me to make THIS CARD which I am not thrilled over.

One of my lovely co workers asked me to make an owl birthday card for her grandson's birthday. I was so happy with how it came out I am calling a challenge do over LOL

I think this is going to be my go-to cute card for little people, it was so quick and easy to make and come on...it's stinkin cute!!

I liked it so much I made another one in pink!

Even when I cut and scored it the wrong way I still liked it!

Shite I used to make these cards:

  • Crumb Cake, Bashful Blue and Calypso Coral cardstock (SU)
  • Black and pink cardstock (Recollections)
  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Happy Camper paper pack (We Are Memory Keepers)
  • Be.Loved. paper pack (Fancy Pants)
  • Top note die (SU)
  • Large and small heart punches (SU)
  • 3/4", 1", 1 1/4" and 1 3/4" (SU)
  • Scallop punch (SU)

Shopping Our Stash #238 - All Bent Out of Shape

Thanks for stopping by to check out this week's SHOPPING OUR STASH challenge.

This week the SOS crew are all Bent Out of Shape and we want you to join us!

I am not well skilled at making shaped cards. I have a few dies that will cut shapes that I could use, but of course I loaned out my cuttlebug...soooooooo I had to find something else.

I found this dress shirt template / tutorial and decided to give it a try. Always a good thing to add to your stash of masculine cards right??

Shite I used to make this card:

  • Patterned paper (Dollarama)
  • Wild Wasabi cardstock (SU)
  • 1/2" circle punch (SU)
  • Paper piercer (SU)
  • Frayed Burlap distress ink (Tim Holtz)
  • Mini ink blender tool (Tim Holtz)
Check out the SHOPPING OUR STASH BLOG for all the details on the cahllenge. While you are there, please share some love with the rest of the crew.

As always, we'd love for you to play along with us!

SoSS #52 - K for Kiss

I'm a delinquent snarky sister this week. I have been sick sick sick. Shout out to SISTER CHRIS for managing things on the SoSS BLOG while I have been napping the days away.

Valentine's Day is approaching, Edna and the sisterhood want you to pucker up and show us your best kiss. It may be snarky, it may not, either way we wanna see it.

I made this card sometime between 2:30 and 7:00 am yesterday, under heavy influence of cold meds. I don't even remember adding the sequins, but WOW my craft room is really tidy...apparently when I am delusional I like to clean...who knew??

Shite I used to make this card:

  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Be.Loved. paper pack (Fancy Pants)
  • Be.Loved patterned photo frames (Fancy Pants)
  • Silver sequins (Joanns)
Be sure to visit the SoSS BLOG for all the details on the challenge. While you are there please show the sisters and our guest designer some crafty love!

As always, we'd love for you to play along with us!!

Scraptures - Finally Friday - February 5, 2016

I like when Christa asks me to do the Finally Friday projects for SCRAPTURES because it's anything goes!!

It's an excellent motivation to go back to some older kits to make cards to add to my stash.

This month I am going back to July 2014 to the card kit which featured "We Are Family" by Echo Park.

I made two quick and easy cards this week, both of which I think would work well as Valentines or thinking of you cards

Sorry the pictures are a bit wonky, it was actually dark outside when I took them!

Shite I used to make these cards:

"We are Family" design paper (Echo Park)
SN@P "Homespun" Insta Squares (Simple Stories)

White cardstock (Fireworx - not in kit)

Shopping Our Stash #237 - Dreaming of Something Warm

Hello again crafty pals!

Thanks for stopping by today to check out the new SHOPPING OUR STASH challenge.

This week the SOS CREW are Dreaming of Something Warm and we hope you are too!

I live in a small town where there is no Starbucks ***gasp*** can you believe that??? I frequently dream of chai lattes...ya...I make them at home, but it's just NOT the same lol

I must admit I am kinda smitten with my card, that doesn't happen very often! I used a stamp set that's been in my stash for way too long without being inked up AND I tried something new (using a pencil eraser to make my little dots around the latte) AND I am super impressed how well the ink ended up matching the design paper I picked...YAY me!!

Shite I used to make this card:

  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Fresh Brewed Blueprint stamp set (Tim Holtz)
  • Tuxedo Black ink (Memento)
  • Fired Brick distress ink (Tim Holtz)
  • Design paper (SU)
  • Pencil eraser
Please visit the SHOPPING OUR STASH BLOG to check out what' keeping the rest of the crew warm this week and as always we would love for you to play along with us!
