SOS 171 - Sunshine on a Cloudy Day

This week's challenge on SHOPPING OUR STASH is "Sunshine on a Cloudy Day"...you know...like the lyrics from MY GIRL by The Temptations.

For this week's challenge the SOS crew would like you to use either sun or clouds on your project.

Here's what I came up with for the challenge:

This card was super quick and easy to make. Start with a 9" x 4.25" piece of cardstock, score at 2.5", 3.5", 5.5" and 6.5"...fold...decorate and voila...easy peasy lemon squeasy!

Here's another picture from the top that shows the fold better:

Shite I used to make this card:

  • White cardstock (Recollections)
  • We Are Family design paper (Lori Whitlock for Echo Park)
  • Arrow clips (SU)
  • Red buttons (from my stash, maybe SU??)
  • Cloud dies (gift from my SOS teammie JESSI)
  • Twine (The Twinery)
Be sure to visit the SHOPPING OUR STASH BLOG for all the details on the challenge and show the SOS crew some crafty lovin' while you are there.

I wanted my card base to look less stark black, so I rubbed chalk all over it then wiped off the excess. Then redid it to remove my effin' fingerprints LOL

Shopping Our Stash 170 - Shower Time

Scrub-a-Dub Tuesday!! It's Shower Time!! That's this week's SHOPPING OUR STASH challenge theme.

This week we'd like you to use your shower curtain as inspiration for your project. If you don't have a shower curtain (or one that you'd like to use) you can use the shower curtains of any member of the SOS crew.

Check out the SHOPPING OUR STASH BLOG for all the details of the challenge, to see our shower curtains (that sounds kinda stalker-ish) and while you are there show my SOS crewmates some crafty lovin'

So here's what my shower curtain looks like, we have an "under the sea" theme going on...

And here's the card I made based on my shower curtain (my card is based on a fab card I received from my crafty friend Deb in a card swap):

I wanted to pick up the orange from the star fish as an accent colour. I used my marker spritzer to add some orange spritzes all over the card, distressed the edges and inked those up in the orange as well.

Shite I used to make this card:

  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Gorgeous Grunge stamp set (SU)
  • Hashtags stamp set (Tim Holtz)
  • Mowed Lawn and Peacock Feathers Distress Ink (Tim Holtz)
  • Pumpkin Pie marker (SU)
  • Marker spritzer (SU)
  • Silver sequins (Joanns)
Hope you'll play along with the SOS crew this week, let's see your shower curtain and how it inspires you to get crafty!

SoSS 17 - D is for Distressing

Poor old Edna certainly does seem to look somewhat distressed this week! I can share her pain...I have just discovered the number 3 key and the CAPS LOCK button on my laptop no longer work...WTF?? Talk about distressing...oh well...I digress...back to the challenge...

This week the Edna and the sisterhood would like to see some distressing on your project...this was an easy one for me. There is nothing I love more than sitting over my recycle bin in the craft room with a pair of scissors shredding up the edges of paper...yes...I know I lead an exciting life...LOL

Visit the SoSS BLOG for all the details on the challenge and while you are there show my sisters some crafty lovin'.

Here's what I made for the challenge

I used my scissors to distress the edges of all the layers including the little photo and inked them up with frayed burlap distress ink on my ink blending tool. I also frayed the edges of the burlap paper strip to make it look distressed as well.

I used the leftover ink on the blending tool on the design paper and bingo card to try and make them look more antique-y.

The cool bingo card came from some papers SISTER CHRIS sent me in a care package.

Shite I used to make this card:

  • Kraft cardstock (Recollections)
  • Ladies &Gents and Trendsetter design paper (Websters' Pages Petite Papers)
  • Vintage Finds Bingo (Teresa Collins)
  • Salvage Stickers (Tim Holtz)
  • Frayed Burlap distress ink (Tim Holtz)
  • Ink blending tool (Tim Holtz)
  • Burlap paper (DCWV)
Want to join the sisterhood?? You have until 11:55 pm EDT on Friday October 3rd to link up your project on the SoSS BLOG...maybe you will be our next Queen or Princess of Snark!!!

My card also fits the SHOPPING OUR STASH challenge for this week, Who's Who so I am going to enter the card there as well (even though I am on their design team...lol...still fun to add another project).

Shopping Our Stash #168 - Chicken

Did you know that September is Chicken Month??? According to to Holiday Insights it is!!!

In honour of chicken month, this week the crew at SHOPPING OUR STASH would like you to use a chicken OR any bird on your project.

I think Leslie had me (and my LOVE of birds....NOT) in mind when she created this challenge...at first I thought....SHITE...I got rid of my one and only bird set!! Turns out I have not only one but TWO Paper Smooches stamp sets that have chickens in them! LOL

I got a really cool card in the mail from my crafty friend Jenn Tinline that just also happened to feature a bird...I loved the layout of the card, the card base is a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4" piece of cardstock (the pink on Jenn's card) then there is a smaller 10 1/4 x 4" piece that folds in half on top of the base...what a cute and frugal way to use coloured cardstock!!

Here's Jenn's card:

Jenn Tinline

And here's what I came up with in honour (??) of chicken month:

And here's the inside of my card (ya I did something on the inside since that's where the chicken is), so there you can see the white part open on the yellow base...cool huh??

  • Daffodil delight cardstock (SU)
  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Tuxedo Black ink (Memento)

Shopping Our Stash #167 - Don't Crimp My Style

This week's SHOPPING OUR STASH challenge is Don't Crimp My Style.

For this challenge we'd like you to use a paper crimper OR a piece of corrugated cardboard/paper OR rik rak (because it's wavy ribbon).

Somewhere in my stash I just KNEW I had a brooch made from corrugated cardboard that I made at Scrapfest years ago. I also KNEW that I wanted to re-purpose it for this challenge...I just had to find it!!

Eventually I found it and turned a weird paper brooch into something that I think looks kinda cool on a card LOL talk about shopping your stash!

Shite I used to make this card:

  • Basic Black & Pumpkin Pie cardstock (SU)
  • Brilliance design paper (Authentique)
  • Hey Kid Kre8v chipboard SMILE sticker (Pink Paislee)
  • Corrugated cardboard flower (re-purposed from my stash)

Stop by the SHOPPING OUR STASH BLOG for all the details on this challenge and to link up your project.

We'd love ya to play along with us, please limit your total number of challenges to 13, including ours...thanks! While you're there be sure to visit the blogs of my teammies to show them some crafty lovin!
