Shopping Our Stash #140 - Heavy Metal

This week's Shopping Our Stash challenge is Heavy Metal...so crank up the Motley Crue and get your headbanging craft on!! Click on the link to the blog above for all the details on the challenge and to show my rockin' SOS teammies some crafty love.

I am not exactly sure what this project is...but I am pretty happy with how it turned out. Before Christmas I had painted a few 4x4 coasters with chalkboard paint, I am sure I had a plan for them but I have no idea what...so on my desk they sat.

I rubbed the coaster all over with white chalk then wiped off the excess, I wanted it to look like a well worn chalk board. Then I stamped the sentiment in white craft ink and heat set it.

Next I added the ribbon (ya I hand stitched that!!!) and finally went to town with some metal embellishments. I thought it needed a little something more so I added the button and frayed twine.

SUPPLIES:
4X4 paper coaster
Chalkboard paint (leftover from my cousin's wedding in 2012)
White craft ink (SU)
Metal key & keyhole (Recollections)
Metal cogs, brads and spinners
Black ribbon (Michaels)
White twine
Button (from an old card kit)
Phrases I stamp set (Tim Holtz)

SoSS Challenge #2 - U is for Unused

It's Saturday!!! YAY!!! Time for another Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers challenge!!! This week's challenge is brought to you by the letter U...and U is for Unused. We want you to dig deep into your stash and use something that you haven't ever used before, or something that you've had for so long that you've forgotten about it.

Be sure to visit the blog for all the details on the challenge and to show my snarky sisters some crafty love.

I have soooooo much unused stuff in my craft room, it was hard to know where to start. I have a whole pack of unused kraft tags...so I started with one of those.

I started with Gesso and the Tim Holtz eye chart stencil, then used acrylic paints over top to colour the background. I distressed the edges of the tag, I wanted some of that nice kraft to show through. Then I added my embellishments (including a little blue bling that I got for my birthday), some frayed twine for the top and ta da...stash enhanced tag!

SUPPLIES:
Kraft tag (Michaels)
Acrylic paints (Dollarama)
Gesso (Michaels)
Eye chart stencil (Tim Holtz)
Philosophy tags (Tim Holtz)
Film strip ribbon (Tim Holtz)
Bling strip (Michaels)
Twine from a lunch order (yep I still have some in my stash)
Other misc. stash embellishments (hat pin, spinner, clip & birdcage)

Shopping Our Stash #139 - Embellish Me

This week's challenge at SHOPPING OUR STASH is Embellish Me.

For this challenge we want you to make your own embellishment! How fun!!! Be sure to visit the blog for all the details on the challenge and to see the awesome embellishments my teammies created (and show them some craft love!!).

I made a flower embellishment from 8 punched scallops. I wet and crinkled each one, sprayed with glitter spritz then heat dried. And I didn't even set any of them on fire!! Although by the smell I think I came close.

I'm sure glad I bought so much of that border bling cuz it's like Frank's hot sauce, I am using that shite on EVERYTHING!!

Scallop punch (SU)
Very Vintage wheel (SU)
Corduroy button (SU)

You asked for it...don't worry, it's been edited

Super duper awesome thanks to my snarky sister Lindsey who takes wickedly good photos of cards!!!

The snarky sisters had a card swap where we each made and sent a partner a snarky card....well holy momma was that SOOOOOOO much fun!!!

My card had a wee bit of profanity on it, which for anyone who knows me will not be much of a surprise, and I did warn Lindsey in advance.

So here is my snarky card swap, I used pixlr.com to add the KAPOW sticker because I am not really out to purposefully offend anyone, well not most of the time anyway...but if you imagine a certain efff word under that sticker, you'll get the snarky gist of the card. Did you see that there is an actual take out box in that picture??? Seriously!! Lindsey is awesome!!!

And here is the snarky inside...

Shopping Our Stash #138 Oh Shiny!

HOOOORAY for Tuesday!! Time for another SHOPPING OUR STASH challenge. This week's theme is "Oh Shiny!!!" Yes I do frequently mutter that when wandering through craft stores...but really...it is also the theme of this week's challenge, use something that shimmers, shines or sparkles.

I am a sparkle girl myself, I am all about the bling!! I knew right away what stash items I wanted to use, blinged out border strips from Michaels (yes I bought 4 rolls!!) and some glittery paper from a 2012 Valentine themed card kit.

I have only used this stamp and die set once before, contemplating whether or not to post the card I made on my blog because it has the "F" word in it...will ponder on that while you check out the card for this challenge...

I fussy cut the take out box and chopsticks...grrrrrrrrrr...luckily there is a die for the fortune and the cookie.

SoSS Challenge #1 - A is for Anti Valentine

Hoooorayyyyy the day is finally here!!!

The first Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers challenge is on!!! Hope you'll come play along with us!

What kind of snarky sisters would we be if we didn't host an anti-valentine challenge??

Visit the SoSS blog to check out all the snarky valentines that the design team created and be sure to visit their blogs as well and share the crafty (or snarky) love.

I am probably one of the least "girly" sisters you will ever meet. I don't like chick flicks, I don't like flowers (they die) and all my peeps at work know the way to my heart is with tea, chocolate or cash (not necessarily in that order).

When my lovely hubby says "I love you" I usually roll my eyes and respond with "yep" "whatever" "blah blah blah" or "bite me" but of course he knows those are terms of endearment.

SUPPLIES
Old Olive & Basic Black cardstock (SU)
Design Paper (Imaginisce)
Bling strip (Michaels)
Large heart punch (SU)
Basic Black marker (SU)
Marker spritzer (SU)
Glitter spritz (SU)
Word bubble dies (SU)
Good Fortune stamp set (Lawn Fawn)
Twilight themed stamp set

I am particularly happy with how the layered black heart came out. I started with 5 punched hearts, wet them and crumpled them up, sprayed them with the glitter spritz and then dried them with the heat gun. Here's a closer look at the layers:

Join us at SoSS and play along with our very first challenge! You have until 11:59 pm EST on Friday February 21 to upload your project...maybe you will be our first Queen of Snark!!
