SOS 136 Cabin Fever

Happy Happy Tuesday!! Time for another challenge at SHOPPING OUR STASH. This week's theme is Cabin Fever. Visit the blog for all the details on this challenge and to show my teammies some crafty love.

I chose to go with the "something outdoorsy" part of the challenge and make a Team Canada themed hockey card for my cousin for his birthday. I wanted the jersey to look well worn, beat up, bloody....kinda like the jersey he would wear for pond hockey (yeah it's short sleeved, we Canadians are a tough bunch!!!). I did a LOT of distressing on the card, layers and the jersey. The white layers I spritzed with red marker to look like blood.

I am notorious *GASP* for cutting up my stamps so I can use them in other ways, especially sentiment stamps. This stamp originally said "What's Up Canuck?" I didn't like the border on the stamp, I wanted it all in a wonky line and I didn't want the 's on the end of what...so I butchered it to get what I wanted and I like it MUCH better!! I heat embossed the maple leaf on the jersey and the sentiment.

Here's a closer look at the jersey...

SUPPLIES:
Black, white & red cardstock (Recollections)
Real Red & Basic Black markers (SU)
Marker spritzer (SU)
Versamark
Black embossing powder
Studio G stamps (Michaels) - Maple Leaf & What's Up Canuck?
T shirt die (My Favourite Things)

Squirrely Birthday

Had a request to make a birthday card for the daughter of of co-worker. She lives out in the country and loves yellow and green...I thought...OHHHHH I have the perfect scrap of DP for that card!

I started with a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 kraft base, added borders of yellow and green and the layer of DP that has deer, moose, squirrels, skunks, foxes, buffalo and trees on it.

Then I made the banner with the Fishtail / Banner die set from "Your Next Stamp." Heat embossed the sentiment and coloured it in to match the DP and voila!!

SUPPLIES:
Kraft cardstock (Joanns)
Daffodil Delight & Old Olive cardstock (SU)
Design paper (not sure who make it? has been in my stash forever!!)
Bring On The Cake stamp set (SU)
Versamark ink
Black embossing powder
Daffodil Delight, Old Olive & Dusty Durango markers (SU)
Fishtail / Banner die set (Your Next Stamp)

Hybrid Thank You Card

I had a request from work to design 50 thank you cards for one of our projects.

The card had to have the logo for the project as well as the logos for our agency, the funder and community partners. I thought it would be easier to design the card digitally, print it and stamp thank you on the outside. He even did the green and yellow layers digitally (I didn't even want to think about how to print, cut / punch all those logos for 50 cards LOL).

So I asked for some help from a friend of mine who has WAY better graphic design skills than I have, he designed the front of the card, then all I had to do was print them and stamp "Thank You" on the inside.

Shopping Our Stash #135 - Winter Blues

Hooray for Tuesday! That means it's time for another challenge over at SHOPPING OUR STASH. This week's challenge is "Winter Blues." For this challenge use blue as the primary colour on your card. We want to see LOTS of blue...and be sure to visit the SOS blog for all the details on the challenge and to show my teammies some crafty love.

I don't know about you, but I am sure ready for winter to be about over! Usually I love winter, the cold, the snow...but this year...I am just not feelin' it! I have even started a countdown to vacation in the Bahamas...46 sleeps!!

As part of the SOS design team, I am making an effort to use my stash items, including stamp sets that have never seen ink...like this one..."Gorgeous Grunge" (SU). It's one of those sets I used in a class then HAD to have...and then never used...until now!

For my blue I wanted to do a monochromatic card, so I stuck with Midnight Muse (SU) for the cardstock and ink. I even inked up some white twine to match. Not sure how well it comes out in the picture but the white layer and the butterflies were also sprayed with glitter. After I punched the butterflies I wet them, scrunched them, dried them, sprayed them with glitter then dried them again to get them all crinkly. The clear glittery button is from a card kit from December 2012.

In case you have any doubts that I made this card, I submit exhibit A, my midnight muse inky hands (and that's after two hand washes).

Hope you'll play along with us at SHOPPING OUR STASH for the "Winter Blues" challenge this week!

Shopping Our Stash #133 - Use Something New

Hello and happy Tuesday!! Are you ready for another Shopping Our Stash challenge?? The theme for this week's challenge is "Use Something New." Visit the SHOPPING OUR STASH BLOG for all the details on this challenge.

I don't know about you, but I got some really cool crafty stuff for Christmas including an awesome set of duct tape rolls and sheets from my in laws (ya they rock). For this challenge I thought to myself..."how hard would it be to make an entire card from duct tape??"

Turns out duct tape is super fun to work with!!! For this card I started with a Basic Black (SU) cardstock base and everything else is duct tape. The first layer is cut from a sheet of white duct tape. The next layer I used the smaller rolls of green and chevron duct tape on a scrap piece of white cardstock, the centre piece and edges were cut from a sheet of black duct tape.
The pink skull I cut with my cuttlebug using the pink roll of duct tape on another scrap of cardstock.

Thanks for visiting my blog this week, please check out the blogs of my SOS teammies (they're all listed on the right hand side of my blog) and show them some crafty love.
