Time for some ATC love...

This month I participated in two more ATC swaps. Ya, I know....I am addicted to making ATCs...is there a support group for THAT???

The first swap was organized by Wendy for the Stampin' Scrappin' Roadtrippers group that I belong to on Facebook, our theme this month was 'BRING ON THE COLOUR"

Here's the ATC I made using the super bright coloured paper in the CTMH "Dream Pop" kit. I thought the jumbo paper clips were fun accents. I used the "Really Retro" stamp set and small heart punch (both SU), black Staz-On ink for the sentiment and Tim Holtz Picked Raspberries distress stain to colour the edges of the ATC.

The second swap was organized by Chelle on Scraptures, our theme was to make an ATC that represented our favourite movie. I chose to go with Singing in the Rain. I covered the ATC base with a page from an old thesaurus, then painted it with acrylic paints. I heat embossed the image and printed the sentiment on the computer, added some rain drops using the "Weather Report" stamp set (Technique Tuesday) and Ocean Depth chalk ink (Versa Magic) and voila!! The image is from the "Life's Possibilities" stamp set (Tim Holtz / Stampers Anonymous).

I'd also like to enter this ATC for Wicked Wednesday's challenge #85 "Song & Dance." Visit their blog http://www.wickedwednesdayatc.blogspot.ca to play along!!

Scraptures May 1-1 swap

Every month Scraptures has a 1-1 card swap (usually hosted by Chelle) where we make a card according to the month's theme and then mail it off to our partner. It's always so nice to get a beautiful handmade card in the mail! Wanna participate?? Sign up for the forums at: http://www.scraptures.ca

This month's theme is "tie it up." I decided to use some of the twine that I have been "collecting" to make this card for my partner:

Whisper White cardstock (SU)
Elegant Butterfly punch (SU)
Swiss Dots embossing folder
Twine (The Twinery)

Drunken Stampers Challenge #128 - Star Wars

Happy Happy Saturday!!! I don't know about you, but I am seriously freakin' excited that it's a long weekend!! This week's Drunken Stampers challenge is inspired by one of my all time favourite movies, Star Wars...yep I am nerdy, I even keep a Star Wars themed day planner in the craft room, it says "Do. Or do not. There is no try." on the front of it. I love the Star Wars movies because I can remember my parents taking us to see them in the theatre as kids (ya...I am THAT old).

So for this week's challenge you can use Star Wars as your inspiration, or space / rockets / flying machines. If you are a particularly brave soul you might try to use ALL three! Visit the DRUNKEN STAMPERS BLOG for all the details on this challenge and to show Team Bahama some love!

A few weeks ago I came across these super fantastic little Galaxy Paper Tots by kiki and company  You totally need to check these out! The set comes with 10 different figures AND two sizes of the Millennium Falcon!!

I might have mentioned that my cousin Alley is expecting, Baby Bean will arrive later this year in October...and Baby Bean's Daddy is a big Star Wars fan...so I am going to make a series of Star Wars themed baby cards, this one is the first one, we found out TODAY Baby Bean's gender!!! GO TEAM PINK!!!

I started with a onesie in Pixe Pink (SU) and used Basic Black (SU) for the accents. The stormpooper and sentiment were printed on Whisper White (SU). The bling on the buttons on the bottom and the neckline were a gift from fellow Drunken Stamper Barb G - thanks Barb!!

Come play along with the Drunken Stampers, you have until 11:59 PST on Friday May 24th to link your card to the Drunken Stampers blog, who knows, maybe YOU could be our next Life of the Party!!

Happy Mother's Day

Sending lots of Mother's Day love to my momma. This picture was taken last month the day my cousin Amanda got married. Here's my little momma with #1 phew. Happy Mother's Day Mum!!!! Love ya mucho xoxoxox

Here is the card I made for Mother's Day, I have wanted to try one of these three layer cards for a while, turns out they are pretty easy to make. Stamp all three pieces of cardstock at once so they line up. I started with pieces of very vanilla that were 2 x 3.25", 3 x 4.25" and 4 x 5.25". I layered them with removable adhesive before I stamped to be sure they stayed in place.

Once stamped, I layered the pieces on early espresso cardstock measuring 2.25 x 3.5", 3.25 x 4.5" and 8.5 x 5.5" (folded in half for the card base). I love the 3-D look of the triple layers.

Thanks for lookin!!

Scraptures May Card Kit

I am so in love with the SCRAPTURES card kit for May! It features "Steampunk" papers and accessories from Hot Off The Press...seriously, if you like steampunk you need to get this card kit!!

I have been working on a few projects with the kit so far, the papers are lovely dark colours and patterns, very masculine...perfect for a certain father in law's birthday card and present...and maybe even some father's day cards to come...we'll see...

So here's what I've made so far....one of Chelle's Wild Card Wednesday challenges for this month was to make an altered item with the card kit...so I made a picture frame for my father in laws birthday. How perfect was it that I got a great picture of him and his two brothers this past weekend when we celebrated his birthday!

I used the paper from the steampunk paper pack to cover the frame, added some dazzles steam punk stickers (both from Hot Off the Press), added some bling to the stickers and used Tim Holtz alpha tiles to spell out "family" at the bottom.

Here's the card that goes with the frame, using the same paper, stickers and alpha tiles

On the card I also used some Tim Holtz craft core paper (the red that was sanded, embossed and torn as well as the yellow behind the stopwatch).

I also used the Darice Steampunk Gears embossing folder on the top layer of torn paper...too cool huh?

Random Act of Kindness

If you know me at all (and I hope you do if you're reading my blog, otherwise that's kinda creepy...ha ha ha ) you will know that I have a strange love / fascination / admiration of skulls and skull related items.

As part of the Drunken Stampers design team we've had the opportunity to meet and get to know a whole new group of crafty peeps through the Smeared and Smudged Design Team Throwdown Challenges.

In the second challenge...I fell in love with Creepy Glowbugg's (Gloria) steampunk skull project. You've got to check this out...its absoloutely AMAZING!!! Here's a link to her blog (and the skull)
http://creepyglowbugg.blogspot.ca/2013/03/round-2-ding-ding.html

So, how lucky am I?? When I commented on her blog how much I loved the project, Gloria asked me if I wanted it....what?? really?? seriously?? Hells ya I do!! A handmade skull to add to my collection, yes please :)

Yesterday was happy mail day! This beautiful one of a kind piece of art is now on display in my craft room where I can admire it.

Thanks Gloria!!! You truly made my week sooooo much better!!!

Crafty peeps are the BEST!!

Drunken Stampers Challenge #126 - Braveheart

This week's movie inspired Drunken Stampers challenge is Braveheart. One of my all time favourite movies...must be my Scottish heritage. Be sure to visit the DRUNKEN STAMPERS BLOG for all the details on this challenge and to see all the great projects our May guest designer Diane and the Bahama Mamas have whipped up this week. You can use either use the movie Braveheart as your inspiration, or tartan / plaid / gingham. Be sure to upload your project to the Drunken Stampers blog by 11:59 pm PST on May 10th.

For this challenge I decided to make a tag. I started with a kraft tag and used Tim Holtz distress stains to create my own tartan background, if I do say so myself I am pretty pleased with how it came out.

I added a piece of Tim Holtz filmstrip ribbon down the left hand side of the tag and added some elements that reminded me of the movie and / or Scotland. I coloured the chipboard crown and key with black soot distress stain and added some bling. The thistle inside the bottlecap came from a set of embellishments I bought after my trip to Scotland last year. The cog flourishes are from this month's SCRAPTURES card kit (Hot Off the Press Steampunk Stickers).

I used my favourite twine (kept from lunch orders from LUNCH BAGS) around the tag and on the top. I still have black paint under my fingernails from painting the mini clothespins (can you see them on each edge of the twine??)

The letters are Tim Holtz alphabet tiles (are you getting the impression I have been adding to my collection of Tim Holtz supplies????)

Happy crafting & thanks for visiting!!
