Happy last day of 2012!!!

Here we are, it's the last day of the year...how will you be celebrating?? I have never really been one for going out on New Year's Eve, I'd sooner stay home (yes, I am lame). So far today I have spent the last day of the year making cards and ATC's in my craft room listening to some of the CDs I got for Christmas. I'll be on my own tonight so I am sure the yellow dogs and I will be fast asleep before midnight...exciting huh????

When I was making my tea tag ATC this morning I remembered this cute stamp set that Ter sent me, I am sure some of us will be feeling like this tomorrow morning after some celebrating tonight!

I love the little monkey image in his pajamas and bunny slippers...he reminds me of someone....if only he was wearing a robe! Ha Ha Ha Ha

I hope if you celebrate tonight and need two cups of coffee tomorrow that you'll greet the new year with a smile like this fella :)

This one will be going to my swap partner Deborah M. in Phillipston, MA I hope she likes it! I couldn't resist using a tag from my favourite tea, Tazo Awake...mmmmm yummy!

Not sure if you can tell from the picture, but I fussy cut the tea cup and used my Colluzle blade to cut the inside of the handle...ya...I am pretty impressed with myself!

Yep, that's real snow on the brick wall on our porch, we've had snow everyday since Boxing Day!! I love how it looks in the picture.

Drunken Stampers Challenge #112 - All that Glitters

WOW, how is it even possible that this is the last challenge for this round??? It's true what they say....time flies when you're having fun!! This week's challenge is "All That Glitters" check out the DRUNKEN STAMPERS BLOG for all the details on this challenge.

If you know me at all, you know that I am NOT a fan of glitter...it gets everywhere!!!! I do however like glittery blinged out paper where the glitter is firmly attached and unlikely to end up all over me, the craft room and the yellow dogs.

For this challenge I wanted to use some heat and stick powder to try and keep the glitter in place. I really love the glass glitter from SU and the little penguin from the Punch Pals set is one of my favourite stamps of all time.

What's in it:
 Cardstock - Marina Mist (SU)
DP - Christmas Mat Pack
Ribbon - Real Red (SU)
Stamp and Sentiment - Punch Pals (SU)
Inks - Real Red, Basic Black, Tangerine Tango & Whisper White (SU)
Silver Glass Glitter (SU)
String Bling - gift from a Swap-Bot swap
Small bling on sentiment and scarf - CTMH

The new-ish Carry On stamp set from SU continues to be one of my favourites. I also knew I wanted to use the Green Chevron Trendy Tape to make the card look a bit like a present. And of course I couldn't resist using and sanding some more of the core-dinations paper!!

Scraptures Wild Card Wednesday - December 26 - Part One

Happy Boxing Day!!! So....this week is a double card Wild Card Wednesday on Scraptures - consider it my little post Christmas present to you and totally not because I couldn't count how many weeks there are in December.

I've had a lot of fun working with the card kit this month featuring Echo Park - Very Merry Christmas. Sticking with my plan of doing different folds this month, here is my first card for this week...a centre step card. If you've never made one and would like to, I got the tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers, here's a link:
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/centerstepcard/

Special thanks to my friend Georgina who was kind enough to cut me some window frame dies...not sure if you can tell in the picture, but there is a piece of acetate behind the window.

What's in it:
Card base - Bazzill White Criss Cross
Design paper - Bazzill Basics Moose Tracks & Echo Park Very Merry Christmas Journalling Cards
Stamp set - Technique Tuesday "Warm Winter Wishes"

Two more sleeps!

Well, here we go, tomorrow is Christmas Eve and I am happy to report that all my shopping (and most of my wrapping) is done.
I am feeling so well prepared in fact (yes, I had a list and checked it twice) that I spent some time in the craft room making some Christmas ornaments this afternoon.

I am pretty happy with how they came out, they look pretty simple, but I can tell ya, filling an ornament with green, red and silver glitter, mika flakes, little green trees and little red reindeer is not only time consuming, but kinda messy!!! {{remember I am NOT the biggest fan of glitter in the first place}}.

I got the little plastic ornaments a few weeks ago at Michael's on a girls shopping & lunch day with my Alley Bo Balley (who I can't wait to see on Christmas Day!!!).

Makes me glad I still had my little dormant lilac tree on the porch, it turned out well for taking pictures of the ornaments :)

Scraptures WCW - December 19

Here we go with week three of the December card kit featuring Echo Park - Very Merry Christmas
I am trying to use some different folds with this month's card, not sure what I would call this one, maybe an altered gate fold?
To get the card base I started with a piece of DP 12" x 5.5"
On the 12" side, I scored at 2", 4", 8" and 10"
Then on the short side I cut from the centre (2.75") to the 4" score mark on both sides.
For the belly band I just used a piece of 12" x 1" paper and wrapped it around the whole card to keep it shut, then added the layers of paper and the sentiment to finish it off.
To add a bit of colour to the grey/white side of the DP, I added gold stickles to the centre of the stars.
The white insert of the card measures 5.25" x 3.75"
I really love the green damask DP in this month's kit!

Here's a picture of the card closed:

And here's a picture of it open with the belly band removed so you can see the fold better:

What's in it:

Echo Park - Very Merry Christmas - Green Damask
Bazzill Basics Paper - Moose Tracks
Whisper White cardstock (SU)
Gold stickles
Technique Tuesday "Warm Winter Wishes" stamp set
Stampin Dazzle Gold Marker (SU)

Pink Christmas

I really really really wanted a pink tree this Christmas...sadly my idea got vetoed :(
Not one to give up easily, I decided to make my own little pink Christmas tree for the fireplace mantel.
I started with a small foam cone and covered it with 1.25" circles punched from design paper.
Then I blinged it up with some pink ribbon, silver twine and sparklies.
The star on top I heat embossed with sparkly pink embossing powder (I knew I bought that years ago for a reason!!!).

Here's how the tree came out:

Last week on Scraptures, Shannon made some super cute ornaments using circles, here's a link to the SCRAPTURES BLOG  for instructions. I had some left over design paper from my tree, so I made a coordinating ornament with a 2.5" circle punch.

Steampunk Farewell...

This Friday we are saying goodbye to one of our co-workers as she is moving out of town.
I was asked to make a farewell card large enough for all 25 of us to sign.
I have been adding to my Tim Holtz stamp collection and have been looking forward to getting them inky. This is a larger (5.5" x 8.5") version of a previous steampunk-y-ish card I made. I wanted to add lots of different little elements, the twine, the cogs, the mini clothes pins, the bling in the centre of the compass...

Whats in it:
Cardstock -  Early Espresso (SU), Kraft (The Paper Company)
Design Paper - Newsprint (SU)
Stamps - Tim Hotlz "The Journey"
Ink - Early Espresso (SU)
Cog punch (SU)
Hemp Twine (SU)
Bling (SU)
Mini Clothes Pins (Dollarama)

Grinchy Christmas Tree

One of my lovely co-workers gave me this super cute Grinchy Christmas tree as a thank you gift for some things I had made for her. Can I tell you this is just about the cutest thing I have ever seen??? It makes me smile AND makes my office smell nice :)

Scraptures Wild Card Wednesday - December 12

Wow, can you believe it's the middle of December already?? Two weeks today will be Boxing Day! And then we're almost into 2013!!!

Here's my second project for this month using the December card kit from Scraptures featuring Echo Park Very Merry Christmas.

The base of this card is acetate, specifically KaiserCraft Acetate, this sheet is "Holly" which you can see along the top of the card.

I wanted to do something along the left edge of the card and wanted to use the maraschino twine to look like a candy cane or a red and whited striped North Pole.
I like working with acetate, there are so many different things you can do with it!

I wanted to take the picture of this card outside to get the effect of seeing through the acetate.

What's in it:
KaiserCraft Acetate - Holly
Cardstock - Early Espresso (SU)
Design Paper - Echo Park - Very Merry Christmas - Journalling Cards
Maraschino Twine

Thanks for lookin!!

17 sleeps!!!

The countdown to Christmas continues....only 17 more sleeps. Sure doesn't feel much like Christmas today - rainy and kinda warm here in Southern Ontario today.

Bruver and #1 phew are on their way here as I type, #1 phew and I are going to see William Shatner in Hamilton this afternoon...fun times my friends, fun times.

I thought I would post today with some better pictures / variations on cards that I have made this year.
One of my co-workers asked me for a 4 reindeer head card and a black, white and teal card.

Lastly, here is a better picture of the ribbon tree card

Thanks for lookin!!

The countdown is on...

Only 19 sleeps til Santa comes!!
The orders are coming in fast and furious for our United Way Christmas campaign at work...over 100 cards so far! Here's a variation of a card I made at a recent Stamp a Pack with SU demo Jenn Tinline...this card has been very popular! It's a bit fiddly to mass produce with all the different parts, but I think the final product is pretty cute.

What's in it:
Cardstock - red, white, kraft & black (The Paper Company), silver (Recollections), silver & red glitter paper (SU)
Punches - owl, 1/2" circle, snowflake (SU)
Ink - real red (SU)
Sentiment stamp -Inkadinkado

Scraptures Wild Card Wednesday - December 5

There are so many cool things in this month's card kit from Scraptures...I didn't know where to start!!

I decided to make a twisted easel card and using the design paper that came with the kit...I didn't even have to do any stamping, both the image and the sentiment were cut from the Journalling Cards design paper!

I was also really excited to use the core-dinations cardstock, it comes pre-embossed and you can sand it, tear it...we all know how I love to distress paper, so of course I sanded it for my card.

To make the twisted easel card, I started with a piece of Early Espresso cardstock (11" x 5.5"), scored it in half, and then scored one of the halves diagonally from the centre to the edge.

We got our fist significant snow in Southern Ontario this past week, so I thought it would be fun to take the pictures outside...brrrrr...not sure that was a good idea, don't think you can even see the snow in the background!

Here is the card closed:

And here's what it looks like open:

 What's in it:
Surprisingly, I only used three pieces of paper to make this card, and didn't do any stamping, but as simple as it was, I am really happy with how it came out!

Cardstock - Scarlet (core-dinations) & Early Espresso (Stampin Up)
Design paper - Echo Park - Very Merry Christmas - Journalling Cards

Hershey Kiss Christmas Tree

As you know, I am part of the Stampin Scrappin Roadtrippers group...one of our ladies, Ter, is infamous for posting cool and cute tutorials.
Last week she posted a link to this blog where Brenda had made these cute Hershey Kiss Christmas trees:

http://qbeesquest.blogspot.ca/2012/11/scored-hersheys-christmas-tree-tutorial.html

Then one of our other Stampin Scrappin Roadtrippers, Gail, tried her hand at them...and here's what she came up with:

http://jackpineridge.blogspot.ca/2012/11/tree-and-balm.html

I am always looking for fun little treats to make for my team at work and thought these might be just the thing, so I tried one as well, they are not nearly as complicated to make as I thought they were going to be!

So here's my first attempt (took me longer to make the friggen bow than anything else!!!)
