Scraptures - Wild Card Wednesday - Oc tober 31, 2012

Here's my last Wild Card Wednesday project for this month using the Cosmo Cricket - 2wenty Thr3e kit. A while ago I had printed out a paper bow tutorial from Aly Dosdall's blog and have been wanting to try it. By the end of the month I am usually down to scraps of design paper, so it worked well for the bow, I had enough to cut out the three pieces for the bow. Here's a link to Aly's tutorial if you want to make a paper bow:

I hope the weather holds out for all the little Trick or Treaters!!
We are dressing up for work tomorrow, I couldn't decide between Pirate Princess and Where's Waldo...but I think this look is a winner...hahahahahahaha what do you think???

Rainy Rainy Sunday

It's a very rainy Sunday here in Burlington this morning, has been pretty rainy for most of the week actually. I decided to spend most of the day in the craft room.
I made 12 cards for a Christmas card swap that we are having over on Scraptures (not posting those yet)...and I made another card using the Scentsational Season stamp set and dies from Stampin Up.

That one I can show you :)
Not sure if you can see it in the picture, but I coloured the beverage part in Early Espresso, then painted over it with glittler paint.

Drunken Stampers Challenge #103 - Pretty Little Liars

This week's Drunken Stampers challenge is to make a card with a secret!!
Check out the blog for all the details, and be sure to check out all the projects of Team Mojito for this challenge.

Click here to visit the Drunken Stampers Blog

Here's my card for the "Pretty Little Liars" challenge:

So what's the secret you ask?? This card has not one, but two little secrets...first...see the ribbon on the right hand side?? When you pull that out, there is a greeting tag inside (see the picture below). The second little secret is that the greeting tag sleeve is made from a toliet paper roll...yep...don't throw out or recycle those things!!! Keep em for crafting!!

This time of year I always start hoarding empty toilet paper rolls in anticipation of making lots and lots of Christmas gift card holders. I have had the "thought" for this card in my mind for some time now...thinking it would be fun to make a pull out tag front for a card with a toilet paper roll. I sealed one end of the toilet paper roll with double sided sticky tape and heat embossed the bat and the sentiment (all one stamp).

Here's a picture of the card with the greeting tag in front:

What's in it:
Cardstock - Basic Black (SU), Kraft (The Paper Company)
Design Paper - My Mind's Eye - Night Light Wings in the Night
Stamp - Hello Friend Bat (not sure of manufacturer)
Ribbon - Celebrate It - Basic Narrows (Michael's)

Sugar Skull ATC

The Stampin' Scrappin' Roadtrippers group that I belong to on Facebook had a Halloween themed ATC swap this month. Nine of us crafty ladies each made 9 ATCs, so everyone gets one of each...wow were the ATCs FANTASTIC!!!!!

Here's what I came up with for the swap, I heat embossed the image on watercolour paper and then used the aqua painter and inks to colour some of the skull features:

What's in it:
Stamps - Bombshell Stamps - Sugar Skulls
Cardstock - concord crush (SU), watercolour paper
Design Paper - Halloween stripes (SU - retired)
Pewter embossing powder

Scraptures Wild Card Wednesday - October 24

I made my very first step card during the last Scraptures online crop...since then they have been my "go to" for something a little different. Even though I follow the instructions EVERY time, I rarely get the scoring and cutting right on the first try.

For centre step cards like this one, I always use this tutorial from Splitcoast Stampers:
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/centerstepcard/
I love all the embellishments (stickers, tags, buttons etc.) that came with this month's card kit...I love things that are all matchy matchy!!

This week's challenge is for you to make a card in a different style than the standard 4.25 x 5.5 inch card.

What's in it:
Cardstock - Bazzill Basics (Orange), Tim Holtz Distress "Old Paper"
Design Paper - Cosmo Cricket "2wenty Thr3e" - Oh Happy Day
Sentiment & Embellishments - 2wenty Thr3e Stacked Stickers

Happy Happy Saturday!!

Scraptures october 1-1 card swap

I love participating in the 1-1 card swaps on Scraptures.
Every month a theme is set and we make a card to send to our partner.
For October the theme was autumn / leaves and my partner was T (I can post the card because I know she's already received it).
I am a bit of a nerdo and had an idea in mind of what I wanted to make, but didn't have the a leaf punch or die, so I printed off a 40% off coupon and headed off to Michael's...I knew I'd seen a Martha Stewart leaf punch a while back. I punched the leaves from scrap, layered them onto the white cardstock then ran the whole caboodle through the cuttlebug. I am pretty happy with how this one came out.
The picture doesn't show the colours particularly well...I took it inside and the light was kinda crapola, but you get the idea.

What's in it:
Cardstock - Whisper White, Old Olive, Tangerine Tango, Early Espresso (SU)
Punches - Modern Label, Word Window (SU), Leaf (Martha Stewart)
Ink - Tangerine Tango (SU)
Sentiment - Really Retro (SU)
Embossing folder - Square Lattice (SU)

Scraptures Wild Card Wednesday - October 17

After punching out all those squares from the first two Wild Card Wednesday cards I had strips of design paper left over that I couldn't bear to recycle. So I decided to make them into banners for this week's card. My challenge for you this week (whether you have this month's card kit or not) is to make a card and use up some scraps that you've been saving for a rainy day.

What's in it:
Cardstock - Bazzill Basics, Silver / Grey & Orange
Design Paper - Cosmo Cricket "2wenty Thr3e" - Flashbulbs, Foxtrot, Oh Happy Day & Paperback
Ribbon - American Crafts Premium Ribbon
Sentiment - 2wenty Thr3e stickers
Punches - Modern Label & Word Window (SU)
Paper Piercer - SU

Scraptures Wild Card Wednesday October 10

So...like Christa...I seem to be on a square "kick" with this months kit. For this week's Wild Card Wednesday card I used more of the 1" squares I had cut from the design paper for last week's card and punched some from the cardstock in this month's kit...I attached all the squares to a scrap piece of paper then ran the whole thing through the Cuttlebug for an inlaid embossed look. Then I added three rows of tissue tape (which now I wish I had done before I embossed the squares...I will try that next time), heat embossed the stamp on the tag, added buttons and voila...

What's in it:
Cardstock - Bazzill Basics (orange, silver/grey), Recollections Kraft, Tim Holtz "Old Paper"
Design Paper - Cosmo Cricket "2wenty Thr3e" (Flashbulbs, Foxtrot, Oh Happy Day, Paperback)
Tim Holtz Tissue Tape
Tim Holtz Journalling Tickets
Foof-a-La Buttons
Inkadoo "Art Stamp Numbers" stamp set
Black embossing powder
Versamark ink
Square Lattice Embossing Folder (SU)

Happy Birthday to my # 1 Phew

This week my #1 phew turns 15
That's right...I said 15...I am in some degree of denial that he is actually that old
One more birthday til he can borrow Grandpa's VW Jetta
I am sure you all know that this munchkin means the entire world to the moon and back to me
I just wanted to give him a shout out and wish him a very very very happy 15th birthday

This picture was taken in July this summer, he offered to bend down, I said, don't be silly you aren't THAT much taller than I am...clearly he is!

This one was taken at Alley's wedding this summer, he looked all dapper in his suit.

This one is his grade 10 school picture.

Love you mucho Captain Poopy Pants!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Yep, it's Thanksgiving weekend...I am lucky enough to have two big Thanksgiving dinners this weekend - me who doesn't even eat turkey!! But I do love all the fixin's!!
And Happy Columbus Day to my American friends!
Whether you are celebrating Thanksgiving or Columbus Day, hope you are spending it with friends and family and that you have an extra day off work!!! WOOT WOOT for that!!

With two Thanksgiving dinners to go to, I need quite a few Thanksgiving cards (whoda thunk that??).
I made a few more similar to the cards I made for my co-worker, but had run out of tags and thought it needed something...so I bought this super cute Martha Stewart leaf punch (yes I love her crafty stuff!!) from Michael's and voila...

This second card I made at a Jenn Tinline stamp a stack a few weeks ago, I love the colours and making banners from the design paper...she designs some really cool cards. If you are in the Burlington area, you should totally check out some of her classes, they are a lot of fun! Here's a link to Jenn's blog: http://stampwithjenn.typepad.com there's a link to her classes on the right side.

Be sure to check out the Drunken Stampers Blog for all the details on this challenge and to see what the rest of Team Flirtini came up with this week.

I made two versions of this card in variations of pink. The first one, I haven't used my new cardstock or ink yet in the new SU in colours Primrose Petals and Raspberry Ripple. And I added what I like to call the "Jen Hoover" flower...which is 8 scallops punched out from an old thesaurus, spritzed, wrinkled, inked then layered with a brad in the centre.

What's in it:
Cardstock - Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple & Very Vanilla (SU)
Ink - Primrose Petals (SU)
Sentiment - Favourite Thoughts (SU)
Vintage Wheel (SU)
Paper piercer & mat (SU)
Silver brad (Michael's)

Then I made another version of the card in more traditional pinks:

 What's in it:
Cardstock - Blushing Bride, Pink Passion & Very Vanilla (SU)
Ink - Pink Passion (SU)
Sentiment - Favourite Thoughts (SU)
Vintage Wheel (SU)
Paper piercer & mat (SU)
Five petal flower punch (SU)
Pink corduroy  button (SU)

So, let's see ya get yer Pink on and see what you come up with for this week's challenge!

Christmas Countdown

Here are two more cards I made for our United Way Christmas card campaign at work.

This first one is based on a card I made With Jenn Tinline at her recent Christmas card class, I liked it so much I bought the die and stamp set.
The tree is cut out using the die and gumball green and early espresso ribbon is layered underneath to make the tree. I used the same die set to cut out the star from silver glitter paper.

What's in it:
Cardstock - Gumball Green, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Whisper White & Silver Glitter (SU)
Ink - Early Espresso marker (SU)
Sentiment - Punch Pals (SU)
Holiday Collection Framelet Dies (SU)
Woodgrain Cuttlebug Embossing Folder

For the second card, I thought it would be nice to do something simple in black and white...here's what I came up with (thanks to Carole for lending me the tree stamp!)

What's in it:
Cardstock - Black (Recollections), Whisper White (SU)
Ink - Tuxedo Black (Momento)
Sentiment - Heard From the Heart (SU)
Tree Stamp - Patterned Pines (SU)
Small Star Cuttlebug Embossing Folder

Scraptures Wild Card Wednesday - October 3

I am super excited to be working on the Wild Card Wednesday challenges for Scraptures for the month of October. The October card kit features Cosmo Cricket "2wenty Thr3e" design papers and embellishments.

I started off this week's challenge making a quilt card, but it kind of morphed into something else. I started with a 6x6 card base and a piece of scrap 5x5.
I punched 1x1 squares out of the design paper and adhered to the scrap 5x5 piece.
Then I thought it needed something else, so I added the twine in a weave pattern.
The sentiment is cut from a piece of the design paper.

My challenge to you this week is to make a card using lots of squares, be it a quilt or something else.

What's in it:
Card base - Recollections Kraft
Squares - Cosmo Cricket "2wenty Thr3e" patterned papers - Flashbulbs / Foxtrot / Oh Happy Day / Paperback
Sentiment - cut from Cosmo Cricket "2wenty Thr3e" patterned paper - Photo Booth
Charcoal Twine
