Shopping Our Stash 208 - Baubles, Buttons & Bows

This week's SHOPPING OUR STASH challenge is Baubles, Buttons & Bows.

The SOS crew would like to see a bauble (thing from your stash), buttons or a bow on your project....or all three!!

Check out the SHOPPING OUR STASH BLOG for all the details of the challenge and while you are there show the rest of the crew some crafty lovin!!

Never one to half ass a challenge (I always use my full ass), here's what I made for the challenge:

That's right, I baubled, buttoned AND bowed!! (So long as that thing in the bottom right corner counts as a bauble - it is from my stash!)

I am making a concentrated effort to use up some of my old card kits, this one goes back to October 2014.

Shite I used to make this card:

  • Very Vanilla cardstock (SU)
  • 2wenty Thr3e design papers "Photo Booth," "Postcards" and "Flash Bulbs" (Cosmo Cricket)
  • Washi tape (SU)
  • Twine (The Twinery)
  • Button & bauble from my stash
We'd love you to get your bauble, button & bow on and play along with the challenge! Link your project up on the SHOPPING OUR STASH BLOG

Scraptures Finally Friday - June 26, 2015

Yepper, it's Finally Friday time! My last one for the month - can you believe June has flown by so quickly??

No 8 x 8 layout this week - my printer is out of ink and I didn't have time to go elsewhere to print pictures...so...instead we are going back in time through the SCRAPTURES card kit archives to the April 2014 card kit which featured the "Hello My Name Is" by Teresa Collins.

I really loved this collection...the design papers and accessories...I love the colours, the designs...just awesome for cards and layouts if you are so inclined!!

So here's two cards I made with scraps of what I have left from the card kit:

Shite I used to make these cards:

White cardstock (Fireworx - not in the kit)
Burgundy cardstock (Worldwin)
Hello My Name Is design papers, stickers and tags (Teresa Collins)

Scraptures Finally Friday - June 19, 2015

Here is my Finally Friday layout for SCRAPTURES for Friday June 19.

I am ever so pleased with myself that my little 8x8 scrapbook is getting more filled with layouts!

Joel joined the Army Cadets in February this year. He has had so many adventures in the past few months, camping, kayaking, snowshoeing, learning signal skills, rifle range...he just loves it! It's such a fantastic program!

The Corps had a photographer come in to take portraits of the Cadets in their dress uniforms. I did the layout in the colours of the Corps flag (blue and grey) and red because it matches the flag.

Joel was very pleased that he was promoted from Green Star to Red Star at this years Annual Inspection (hence the little green star on the layout).

Here is 1626 West Lincoln Army Cadet Corps Green Star Cadet de Jong.

Shite I used to make this layout:
  • Cherry Cobbler, Smoky Slate, Gumball Green & Island Indigo cardstock (SU)
  • Fishtail & Banner die set (Your Next Stamp)
  • #proudcanuck stamp (Michaels)
  • Small star punch (Michaels)
  • The letter stickers are from the Scraptures June 2015 kit

SoSS 36 - D is for Dudes

Edna and the sisters are celebrating dudes this week, Father's Day is approaching so we want to see your most manly dude projects!

Visit the SoSS BLOG for all the details on the challenge and while you are there visit my sisters and our Guest Designer and show them some crafty lovin!!

Here's what I made for the challenge, I have clearly been watching too many episodes of Mad Men on Netflix...there's something very Don Draper about this card...

I would never ever ever ever stamp directly onto a card base for fear of mucking it up, so I stamped the dude (Walter) on a separate piece of cardstock, fussy cut him out and stuck him onto the card base.

Shite I used to make this card:

  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Mr. Clark design paper (Monsieur Collection - Pretty Little Studios)
  • Walter stamp (Riley and Company)
  • Brown ink (Staz-on)
I think dudes (and dads) like simple, straightforward cards (if they like cards at all). With that in mind, I made this super simple but colourful dude / dad card:

Shite I used to make this card:

  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Mr. Williams design paper (Monsieur Collection - Pretty Little Studios)
  • Dad Rocks stamp set (Technique Tuesday)
  • Indigo Island, More Mustard, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze markers (SU)
What are you waiting for??? We'd love for you to play along with the D is for Dudes challenge!!

Join the sisterhood and upload your project to the SoSS BLOG by 11:55 pm (EDT) on Friday June 26.

Maybe you will be our next Queen or Princess of Snark!!

Scraptures - Finally Friday - June 12, 2015

Last week's Finally Friday layout was Joel's grade 6 school picture...this week's layout is this year's school picture from grade 7.

Looking at them side by side I can really see how much he has changed in the last year!

Today (June 12) marks a very special day for our little family, we are going to court today to finalize Joel's adoption!! Hard to believe it's been almost two years already since he became part of our lives!!

This week's layout also features the "Be Different" collection from Fancy Pants, which was the May 2014 card kit.

Shite I used to make this layout:

Scraptures Finally Friday - June 5, 2015

I love when Christa asks me to do the SCRAPTURES Finally Friday projects - it's the only time I ever attempt some wee layouts - yes it takes a LOT to tear me away from making cards!!!

I am totally delinquent in doing "Joel" layouts...so that's the focus for my Finally Friday projects this month.

My other focus is to go back and use up some of the stuff from previous kits, rather than hoard it all in my craft room.

So here's my first 8x8 Finally Friday layout for June:

This layout features the "Be Different" collection by Fancy Pants - it's perfect for boy themed layouts. This was the card kit in May 2014 (yep about time I used it huh???)

The photo is his grade six school picture...so it was taken in the fall of 2013...LOOK AT THOSE CHUBBY CHEEKS!!!!!!

Hard to think that two years ago this month I had never met this kid!! He's grown and changed so much in the short time since he joined our family!

Shite I used to make this layout:

  • Be Different "Silly" design paper (Fancy Pants)
  • Be Different ticket roll (Fancy Pants)
  • Be Different ephemera pack  (Fancy Pants)
  • Red cardstock (Worldwin)
  • "Swimming Pool" cardstock stickers (Doodlebug Designs - not in the kit)
  • Stapler (not in the kit)
  • Fishtail / Banner die set (Your Next Stamp - not in kit)
