Shopping Our Stash #288 - Days of Yore

Greetings & thanks for coming by to check out the latest SHOPPING OUR STASH challenge.

This week our theme is "Days of Yore" and we'd like to see a project with a vintage / shabby chic / distressed look to it.

My new boss has a birthday this week, so I thought this was a great chance to dive into my stash and make a birthday card.

Did a quick google search for a card sketch I liked, found this one, which I found HERE:

Kraft cardstock always says vintage / shabby chic / distressed to me, so that's where I started and here's what I made:

I sooooooo adore that retired SU design paper, I will only use it in very small pieces. I have a fair amount of it in my stash still, but it's so pretty I just can't bear to cut it up...that makes total sense right??

The butterflies I punched x 4, doused with the water spritzer, carefully and repeatedly crinkled them up then heat dried them.

And would you look at that...I used a BRAD!!! I haven't used a brad on a card in about 100 years!!

The sentiment I wanted to look kind of chalk board-y, so once it was almost dry I smudged it a bit...which may or may not have been intentional (the first smudge at least).

SHITE I USED TO MAKE THIS CARD:
  • Kraft cardstock (Recollections)
  • Design paper (SU)
  • Gorgeous Grunge stamp set (SU)
  • Marina Mist, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie and Early Espresso markers (SU)
  • Sentiment Sampler stamp set (Paper Smooches)
  • Whip Cream ink (Fun Stampers Journey)
  • Elegant Butterfly punch (SU)
  • Water spritzer (SU)
  • Paper piercer (SU)
  • Brad (SU)
As always we would love for you to play along with us.

You can check out all the details for the challenge on the SHOPPING OUR STASH BLOG and while you are there please share some crafty love with the rest of the crew.

I can see why you've been hoarding those papers. They are really gorgeous! What a fabulous design for your vintage-y card! And that butterfly! OMG! Sooooooo cool!!

Great use of the sketch and that butterfly is fabulous. You used a BRAD woohoo, I hoard mine too, most of the time it's because I glue the card to the base and give myself a slap because the brads are still on the desk. Fab. job.

Donna, love the sketch and your beautifully Shabby card, you are right, kraft card stock looks distressed already so it was the perfect choice. All the pretty pattern papers work together so well, beautiful combination of patterns and colors.
I totally love that super distressed butterfly.
Big Hugs,
Maria.
