SOS 173 - Hello Sweetie!

The 3rd Saturday in October is Sweetest Day in the US. That's the theme for this week's SHOPPING OUR STASH challenge.

The SOS crew would like you to a "sweet" theme...and be sure to tell us how you interpreted the challenge (something sweet, something for your sweetie etc.)

Just about the sweetest thing in my life is this adorable little missy...she just turned one on September 30. Miss Charlie London is the daughter of my cousin (more like little sister) Alley.

Can you believe looking at that face that Charlie was a preemie and weighed less than 5 lbs when she was born? I remember going to see her in the ICU and she was so very tiny, we weren't allowed to take her out of the incubator. We were kinda worried about her at the beginning, but only because we didn't know then what a trooper she is!

Here's the card I made for her 1st birthday...my sweet little monkey princess.

Shite I used to make this card:

  • Purple cardstock (Recollections)
  • Ella Giraffes design paper (Animal Crackers, Making Memories)
  • Baby Girl Miniatures (Bella Blvd)
  • Baby Girl Alpha + Bits (Bella Blvd)
  • Pink & white twine (The Twinery)
  • Pink sequins

Be sure to visit the SOS BLOG for all the details on the challenge and while you are there show my teammies some crafty lovin'!!

Drunken Stampers Challenge 135: Person / Athlete

Woooooo hoooooo the Drunken Stampers are back for another term of crafty awesomeness!!! This term I am part of the Yellow Canary team - who knew there was a drink called that??? My Yellow Canary teammates are:

Be sure to visit their blogs to share the crafty love!!

This term all of the Drunken Stampers challenges are going to be based on a Person, Place or Thing, and you will have options for each challenge. For example, this week's challenge is based on a person, specifically an athlete, so you can use an athlete or any sport as your inspiration.

For this challenge I knew right away what I wanted to do, my cousin Alley is having a baby in October... GO TEAM PINK!!! and I wanted to make a card for her baby shower using the same colours and papers as the shower invites we made. I also knew that since the baby's daddio is a big hockey fan, I wanted to make a jersey with their last name on it and the number 13 (which is BOTH the year she will be born and my lucky number).

After I made that card, I thought it might be fun to make a matching one in blue for our adopted son Joel who will be coming home on August 14th. His has the number 18 for the date of his birthday, which is also his lucky number.

Here's a picture of the two cards side by side:

Long time no blog....

Yep, I am still around...life is incredibly busy this summer so I haven't been able to blog or be as crafty as I would like to be, but have no fear I will be back more often now that the Drunken Stampers will be back in action this coming weekend...WOO WOO!!

Be sure to visit the DRUNKEN STAMPERS BLOG starting July 31 to meet the newest members of the design team (and those of us who just keep coming back time after time after time, poor Spike just can't get rid of some of us!!!). And get ready for our first challenge of the term on August 3rd!!

My cousin Alley is having a baby in October...GO TEAM PINK!!!
A few weeks ago we got together to make baby shower invitations which was sooooo much fun. The nursery colours are going to be purple and grey, which although it doesn't show up well in the picture, are the colours we used on the invites as well.

Alley wanted onesie shaped invites, and I didn't want to cut 45 by hand, so I ordered this cool onesie die from PAPERTREY INK it's the perfect size for invitations!

SUPPLIES:

Papertrey oneise die
Recollections Grey Mini Dot DP
Recollections purple & vanilla cardstock
SU scallop punch & 1 1/4" circle punch
Tim Holtz black soot distress ink
Studio G alphabet set

And here's the proud mama-to-be with one of the invitations...have I mentioned a million times yet how much I LOVE this girl????

Drunken Stampers Challenge #128 - Star Wars

Happy Happy Saturday!!! I don't know about you, but I am seriously freakin' excited that it's a long weekend!! This week's Drunken Stampers challenge is inspired by one of my all time favourite movies, Star Wars...yep I am nerdy, I even keep a Star Wars themed day planner in the craft room, it says "Do. Or do not. There is no try." on the front of it. I love the Star Wars movies because I can remember my parents taking us to see them in the theatre as kids (ya...I am THAT old).

So for this week's challenge you can use Star Wars as your inspiration, or space / rockets / flying machines. If you are a particularly brave soul you might try to use ALL three! Visit the DRUNKEN STAMPERS BLOG for all the details on this challenge and to show Team Bahama some love!

A few weeks ago I came across these super fantastic little Galaxy Paper Tots by kiki and company  You totally need to check these out! The set comes with 10 different figures AND two sizes of the Millennium Falcon!!

I might have mentioned that my cousin Alley is expecting, Baby Bean will arrive later this year in October...and Baby Bean's Daddy is a big Star Wars fan...so I am going to make a series of Star Wars themed baby cards, this one is the first one, we found out TODAY Baby Bean's gender!!! GO TEAM PINK!!!

I started with a onesie in Pixe Pink (SU) and used Basic Black (SU) for the accents. The stormpooper and sentiment were printed on Whisper White (SU). The bling on the buttons on the bottom and the neckline were a gift from fellow Drunken Stamper Barb G - thanks Barb!!

Come play along with the Drunken Stampers, you have until 11:59 PST on Friday May 24th to link your card to the Drunken Stampers blog, who knows, maybe YOU could be our next Life of the Party!!

Return of Sock Monkey...

It's been a long time since I made a card with the Sock Monkey stamp set from SU.
This week one of my co-workers asked me to make a baby card for her with Sock Monkey on it. He really is a cute stamp...and yes...I know I am partial to sock monkeys...I stamped him on design paper and paper pieced his arms, legs, butt, head and smile.

What's in it:
Cardstock - Midnight Muse, Marina Mist & Whisper White (SU)
Ink - Midnight Muse (SU)
Stamp - Sock Monkey (SU)
Design Paper - retired Sale-a-Bration paper (SU)
Baby Boy Button (Stamping Bella)

Thanks for lookin!!

Baby V

Towards the end of the summer Team JHS will be welcoming a new member!!
On of our Youth Workers is expecting her first baby towards the end of August.
We're having a baby shower for her at work this week and I was asked to make a card.
We don't know if Baby V is going to be a boy or a girl yet....so I wanted to stick with gender neutral colours, but added the pink and blue buttons just for fun.

Most of the supplies for this card came from the May 2012 Scraptures card kit including:
American Crafts Blue Skies design paper
Bazzill Basics cardstock (orange and light blue)
American Crafts cardstock (green)
American Crafts Blue Skies Ribbon
Green Glitter Thickers
Favourite Findings Mini Shaped Buttons
Versa Magic Multi Surface Dew Drop Chalk Inkpad - Pink Grapefruit
and
Technique Tuesday "The Weather Report" stamp set

The only item that wasn't from the card kit - SU Whisper White cardstock for the sentiment

Thanks for lookin!!

Baby shower card

Wow, I am certainly getting good use out of the stamp set that was in my May card kit from Scraptures this month. The stamp set is a Technique Tuesday set called "weather report" I love it!!

This week is the last week of work for one of my staff before she has her baby. We're having a work baby shower for her on Friday and I was asked to make the card. There are about 30 of us that need to sign it, so I made a bigger card, 8.5" x 5.5".

Most of the supplies came from the May card kit, including:
  • Weather Report stamp set
  • Brown and orange photo mount CS
  • Green Glitter Thickers
  • Blue Skies Pattern Paper
  • Ribbon

The pink CS for the base and the ink are Pixie Pink from SU

Also used SU punches (scallop, 1 3/8 circle and 1 1/4 circle)

Thanks for lookin!!!
