Wicked Wednesday Challenge 81 - Things with Wings
I recently purchased some stamp sets from a friend of mine who is a consultant for CTMH and when I saw the theme on the WICKED WEDNESDAY ATC CHALLENGE BLOG this week was "things with wings" I knew it was the prefect chance to try out one of the stamps I bought.
I started with a piece of kraft paper on the ATC back and inked it up with gathered twigs distress stain. I added a small piece of burlap, some gold / honey coloured mesh bling and coloured the image with Tim Holtz distress markers. I used the gathered twigs distress stain to colour around the edges of the image as well to give it more of a vintage-y look.

Drunken Stampers Challenge #124 - Twilight
So, before we get started, let me ask you a VERY important question....Team Edward or Team Jacob?? Personally, I am all about Team Emmett...Kellan Lutz...please...eye candy if ever I saw some!
This week's Drunken Stampers challenge is inspired by the Twilight movies. For this challenge you can either use the Twilight movies OR "creatures of the night" as your inspiration. Be sure to visit the DRUNKEN STAMPERS BLOG for all the details on this week's challenge.
I have a few different Twilight themed stamp sets. For this challenge I decided to make an Edward themed side step card.

Thanks Chris for the Liebster Award!
The fantastically wonderful Chris from CHRISPY'S CREATIONS nominated me & my blog for a Liebster Award. If you aren't familiar with what that is...here's a blurb:
This award was designed to promote blogs that have less than 200 followers. Once the award is accepted, the idea is to pay it forward to five other blogs you enjoy, encouraging others to visit, leave comments, and hopefully follow.
To accept the award: Thank the person who gave it to you and link back to their blog. Post the award on your blog. Give the award to five other bloggers who have less than 200 followers.
Write a comment on their blog letting them know they have been nominated.
So here are my five nominations for some of my less than 200 follower blogs:
BARB http://barbscreativecorner.blogspot.ca
Barb and I go way back...we first met each other through the Stampin Canada forum, are members of the Stampin Scrappin Roadtrippers and have been Drunken Stampers for the last two terms. I am not exaggerating when I say that Barb is one of my favourite people on the planet. She is one of those people that you just want to hug!
JEN http://jenhoover.wordpress.com
As she says on her blog...Jen is one of the most random people I have ever met...and that's what makes her so much fun. I call her Niblet...I also met Jen through crafty stuff, and in the years we've known each other have become good friends and share our love of all things Great Big Sea :)
SHANNON http://varyscrappy.blogspot.ca
I met Shannon through the Scraptures forums and have quickly come to see why so many people have such nice things to say about her! Shannon is creative, funny and a lot of fun to be around (Christa Jen and I took Shannon to her very first Great Big Sea concert this week - another convert!!!)
LYNN http://stampinlynnb.blogspot.ca
Similar to Barb...Lynn and I go way back from Stampin Canada and Stampin Scrappin Roadtrippers. Lynn is one of the most positive people I have ever met. She has a knack for seeing the positive in any situation or person and no matter what life throws at her, she keeps trooping on.
CAT http://catscrapfever.weebly.com/
I met Cat originally through Stampin Canada, she is also a member of the Stampin Scrappin Roadtrippers and the Scraptures Forum. Cat is a super talented designer and has recently launched her own site / store with her own digital papers and embellishments!
So there are my five nominations for a Liebster award...please stop by their blogs and show them some love!!

Scraptures Wild Card Wednesday - April 10th
I love the look of banners on cards and scrapbook layouts. For the life of me I can't cut a good banner with scissors or even a punch...I recently picked up a set of banner dies at a LSS and have been happily making banners ever since.
For this week's WCW I was inspired by this banner card I found on Pinterest:
http://ballisticdesign.blogspot.ca/2012/04/dotty-for-youand-so-craziness-begins.html
I thought it would look great with the fab design papers in this month's kit. Using the Pinterest card as a sketch, here's what I came up with:
KIT SUPPLIES:
Cardstock - Bazzill Basics White & Ocean Breeze, Kaiser Craft Coffee Bean
Design paper - Heidi Grace Designs - Marina Drive, Pinstripe, Main Floral, Winnefred Street & Mono Floral
Stamp set - Heidi Grace - Girlfriends
EK Tools 3D foam Dots
OTHER SUPPLIES:
Fishtail / Banner dies - Your Next Stamp
Ink - Early Espresso (SU)

Drunken Stampers Challenge #122 - Singin' in the Rain
This week’s movie inspired Drunken Stampers challenge is Singin' in the Rain...I am a sucker for old time big production musicals and Singin' in the Rain is my favourite. I love the story, the songs, the dancing...
Now don’t forget, our challenges this term are based around movies and it will be an EITHER-OR-BOTH type of challenge. You can EITHER use the movie as inspiration OR use umbrellas as your theme. You may want to even kick it up a notch and use BOTH! We challenge YOU to come out and play with us!!
Be sure to visit the DRUNKEN STAMPERS BLOG for all the details on this challenge and to see what crafty awesomeness the Bahama Mamas have whipped up for us this week.
I had so much fun making a mixed media canvas for the Design Team Throwdown Challenge that I decided to make another one for this week's challenge. It's amazing what you can do with canvas and paints from the dollar store!!
I started the canvas by covering it in mod podge, sticking torn up thesaurus pages on the base then adding another layer of mod podge. Once that dried I painted it with a few different colours of blue and green, I tried to thin it out a bit so you could still see the word pages underneath. I spritzed it a few times with the water spritzer to get some rain spots. Next I heat embossed the birds on a wire and umbrella fella, stamped on some rain drops (not even sure if you can see them??) added the telephone pole, sun and grass, printed out the sentiment and voila...my second canvas.
SUPPLIES:
canvas and paints (dollarama), thesaurus, mod podge, versamark, black embossing powder, Tim Holtz kraft core cardstock, black ribbon, Tim Holtz / Stampers Anonymous stamp set "Life's Possibilities", Technique Tuesday "Weather Report" stamp set, ocean depth versa magic chalk ink, water spritzer
To play in this weeks challenge all you need to do is upload your project to the DRUNKEN STAMPERS BLOG using the InLinkz link.
Please add the link DIRECTLY to your project blog post (any generic blog links will be deleted from the list). You have until Friday, April 12th at 11:59pm PST to post your link.
Wild Card Wednesday - April 3, 2013
When Christa asked me to work with the SCRAPTURES card kit for April to make some Wild Card Wednesday challenges I couldn't resist! Sooooo many cool things in this month's kit to work with...hopefully I will figure out a way to incorporate them all into projects this month :)
This month's kit features Heidi Grace Designs, the papers, stamp set and embellishments are just gorgeous!
For this first week of April I was inspired by a card I received from T in March's 1-1 swap. She made me a beautifully intricate double zig zag card...I went with a simpler template that I found here:
http://operationwritehome.org/tutorial-zig-zag-fold
Here's what the card looks like closed:
And here's what it looks like open:

Heidi Grace "Girlfriends" stamp set
