Real Canadian ATC

Laura-Lee is hosting an ATC swap over at Boys Rule Scrapbook Kits

I am never one to say no to an ATC swap :)
These ones needed to be boy / masculine themed (which I don't make a lot).
Canada Day is coming soon, so I thought I would use the Glorious & Free stamp set from SU
Colours are real red and early espresso.

Carry On Cupcake

Yep, I am totally lovin' this Carry On set from the new SU catalogue :)
Here's another card I made this morning, I like it so much I am going to make an ATC project from it for our Stampin' Scrappin' Roadtrippers get together next weekend :)

Thanks for lookin!!

UPDATE:
And here's the matching ATC :)

Carry On

As soon as I saw this new SU hostess stamp set, I knew I HAD to have it!
If you follow me on pinterest, you know that I have a whole board dedicated to Carry On posters and pictures. I am not sure what it is about it, I just love it!
Then I saw there is a 'favourite phrase' ATC swap on Swap-Bot, perfect chance to break in this new stamp set!! YAY!!
So here's the ATC I made:

Next weekend Wendy is hosting a get together for the Stampin' Scrappin' Roadtrippers. Everyone is making a shoebox swap and and I thought it would be fun to make a card based on this ATC, so here's the full size card:

Nautical Nonsense

This month's theme for our Stampin' Scrappin' Roadtrippers ATC swap is "Nautical Nonsense."
The only nautical themed stamp I have is the whale from the SU "animal stories" set...so I started thinking how can I make waves?? I started with punched circles, but they didn't look right...then I remembered I have these wavey scissors that I haven't used forever!
So I did waves in three colours of blue for the waves, sponged the ATC background for sky and added a punched yellow circle for the sun. The whale (you may not be able to see in the picture) is mounted on a wobble spring (have I told you how much I love those?????) so he can swim with the waves.

Drunken Stampers Challenge #89 - There Can Only Be One

This week's Drunken Stampers challenge is "There Can Only Be One".
Here's a link to the
Drunken Stampers blog for all the details for this one layer card challenge:

http://drunkenstampers.wordpress.com

I don't think I had ever made a one layer card before this challenge....it just seemed 'wrong' to do everything on the card base, not add layers of paper, images, sentiments...but WOW I love the simple elegant impact of one layer cards!!

Sticking with my plan of simple & elegant, I thought I would just use black and white, with a hint of bling...here's what I came up with:

SU scoring tool (to make the 5 line border around the image)
Cardstock - Whisper White (SU)
Stamp set - Treasures (CTMH)
Ink - Memento - Tuxedo Black
Bling - Bitty Sparkles (CTMH)

Don't forget to check out the cards made by the rest of the design team...thanks for lookin!!

Mother's Day Take 2

Here's the Mother's Day card I made for my lovely Mother in Law.
Not sure if you can tell from the picture, but the scallop under the butterfly is popped up on a wobble spring, I love those things!!
The card is based on a Wild Card Wednesday that Christa posted over on Scraptures las
t week.
All the supplies for this card (card base, card stock layers, ribbon, design paper) are from the Scraptures May card kit.

Awwwwwww Gordon

Gordon came in to sit with me in the craft room this morning.
Several times I tried to take his picture...as soon as he sees the camera (or hears it turn on) he usually takes off out of the room.
It's really hard to get a picture of him where he's not fleeing or turning his head. I thought maybe he'd be more cooperative for a video - not so much...but he's just so cute and squishy!!

Keep it less simple sister!!

I always admire the detailed, intricate cards that other people make.
My cards tend to be very simple, just a layer or two, an image, a sentiment, that's about it.
I saw this picture on Craft P
roject Central and thought the bird card was just beautiful (so is the bird house, but that just looks too complicated for me).

I am hosting a "thinking of you" swap for our Stampin' Scrappin' Roadtrippers this month and thought it would be a fun chance to make something a bit more intricate.
For as long as this bird card took me to make, I can tell ya, I am glad I only had to make 5 of them...but overall I am happy with how my CASE of the card came out.

Happy Mother's Day!!!!!

If you are lucky enough to have your mum around, today is the day to hug and kiss her and thank her for all the things she does for you.
I am heading out to O

Baby shower card

Wow, I am certainly getting good use out of the stamp set that was in my May card kit from Scraptures this month. The stamp set is a Technique Tuesday set called "weather report" I love it!!

This week is the last week of work for one of my staff before she has her baby. We're having a work baby shower for her on Friday and I was asked to make the card. There are about 30 of us that need to sign it, so I made a bigger card, 8.5" x 5.5".

Most of the supplies came from the May card kit, including:
  • Weather Report stamp set
  • Brown and orange photo mount CS
  • Green Glitter Thickers
  • Blue Skies Pattern Paper
  • Ribbon

The pink CS for the base and the ink are Pixie Pink from SU

Also used SU punches (scallop, 1 3/8 circle and 1 1/4 circle)

Bridal shower card

Who's getting married in just over three months?????
These two, my Alley bo Balley and the soon to be Mr. Alley bo Balley (Mike).

Rumour has it that there might (MIGHT) be a shower for the lovely bride to be (I can't say when in case she reads this).
The bridesmaids got together in March to make the wedding invitations which look like this (please pay special attention to the expertly inked edges by the lovely Blythe):

I worked on a bridal shower card today, that looked like this:

I was planning on using the same stamps as on the invitation, however, a certain bride to be hasn't given them back to me yet!!

Happy Birthday Dad #3!!

Monday is my father in law's birthday. I call him Dad #3 (not sure if he knows that hahahahaha).
My first Dad, of course, is the old pot and pan, my second Dad has always been my Uncle Robin.
When I got married, I was lucky enough to inherit these awesome in-laws (aren't they cute???).
In a recent Swap-Bot swap, my partner from Holland sent me this great windmill ribbon, Dad #3 is heading to Holland next month to explore his family background, so I thought it was a great choice for his birthday card.

Another layout for NSD - "Nature"

Wally (aka Laurie) posted a challenge on Scraptures this morning for National Scrapbook Day.

Her challenge was to use pictures of nature and scraps on a layout.
I chose two pics from a recent trip to Aruba and all the paper on the layout was from my scrap bucket.

Thanks for the great challenge Wally! Always great to use up some scraps!!

Scraptures NSD Blog Hop!!

Wooo hoooo!
The National Scrapbook Day blog hop is underway at Scraptures.

Here's a link so you can join in all the fun!
http://scrapturesblog.blogspot.ca/2012/05/national-scrapbooking-day-blog-hop.html
I had so much fun with the blog hop - admittedly since I started making cards, I am a scrappin' delinquent! Scraptures has been a great inspiration to get me scrappin' again.

For the blog hop I chose to scraplift Chelle's red layout.
Here is a link to her layout:
http://maybecreative.blogspot.ca/2012/05/national-scrapbooking-day-blog-hop.html

In looking at our recent cruise vacation pictures, I noticed I was wearing a red tank top in every picture (I didn't realize I had more than 1 red tank top!!!), so I thought red would be a good choice for my layout.

Drunnken Stampers Challenge 88

The theme for this week's Drunken Stampers challenge is:
It's Not Easy Being Green
Made me think of Kermit the frog...one of my all time favourite stamp sets is "Unfrogettable" from Stampin Up...so from there it was just a matter of figuring out how to put it all together...
Anyone who knows me knows that I HATE to colour, not only do I detest it, I SUCK at at...but for this challenge I broke out my aqua painter and coloured the frog and heart with it. I wanted the frog to look kind of patchy, like he just hopped out of the pond....ML would be so proud of me for using my aqua painter :)

Here's what I came up with:

Here's whats "in" my card:
Black, old olive & whisper white cardstock (SU)
Circle cuttlebug folder
Aqua painter
Black, old olive and real red inks (SU)
Old olive buttons (SU)

Don't forget to post your card on the Drunken Stampers blog

And be sure to check out the creations of all of te members of the design team!!!
Thanks for lookin!!

Scraptures Finally Friday, May 4th

Christa posted a fun Mother's Day themed Finally Friday challenge on Scraptures today.
The challenge was to make a 6x6 card with design paper & a Mother's Day sentiment.

It's hard to find a card in Canada that spells MUM, so my mum usually gets a handmade card.

I used the "Love Letters" paper pad and white cardstock from the February Scraptures card kit. The black letters are from a kit as well (I just can't remember which one).

I bought a pack of chipboard crowns at Scrapbook queens, coloured this one black with memento ink, the bling someone sent me as part of an ATC swap, and I wasn't really sure what to do with it, so I slapped it on in the middle to up the sparkle.

I love my new floral frog for taking pics of cards!! Thanks to Spike for the recommendation :)
