New catalogue class - June 25

June 25 was our "new catalogue" class, featuring sets / colours / design papers etc. in the SU catalogue that will be released on July 1.

This one, I love, I have a thing for skulls and crossbones at the moment...hahahaha...this one features the 'just jawing' stamp set and coordinating design paper.

This one features the new razzle dazzle stamp set (centre image coloured with markers), the coordinating design paper and crushed curry ribbon. The card is rich razzleberry which is one of the new in colours for 2009 - 2010.

This one features crushed curry and dusty durango card stock (2009 - 2010 in colours), the new animal stories stamp set and the new classic label punch.

Fifth Avene Embossing Folder

Wanted to try something with the Fifth Avenue embossing folder, I have done it with cuttlebug folders before, where you ink the inside of the folder and the ink colours the paper, but not the embossed or raised part of the imprint. This one was made in a super hurry, so it's a bit funky in spots, and not that I know I need to feed the folder through the CB in the direction that the arrows point (thanks Judy!)...

ShoeBox Swap - June 15, 2009

June 15, attended a great shoebox swap with my fantabulous SU upline ML. A shoebox swap is where all the participants prepare a sample card, and then bring all the supplies for everyone else to make their card.
Here are some of the cards we made that night:

This gorgeous one was Cynthia's design, it's gorgeous. The black is stazon, the blue and green were sponged overtop and then we went over some of the black with a white gel pen, the end result is just stunning!

This is my version of Amanda's card, I am pretty sure I gave the original away already....anyway this one has design paper that folds over the back of the card as well like the spine of a book. Very manly, I love this stamp set, great for Father's Day! In fact this is the card both my dad received this year :)
This one was fun too, we embossed on the vellum (clear embossing powder) before attaching it to the card, very pretty effect.

This card was Raquel's design - love it! Makes me want to buy this set! Raquel is sooooo well organized that she has made all the little paper piercing templates made in advance. Great use of the SU corduroy buttons here, not sure if you can see them or not but there are also clear flower cutouts on the card.

This one was ML's design. It has a cute clip with ribbon on it, but it was too bulky for scanning so I took it off. This card uses the Animal Stories stamp set from the new SU catalogue and texture plates for the Big Shot. Love the colour combinations!

Settled on a design for the Shoebox swap...

Arrrgggghhhh...I couldn't decide between the two other samples that I posted...so I settled on a compromise...the bermuda bay cardstock background with a piece of the new design paper sponged in the razzleberry.

Indulge me once more...

Wanted to post one quick picture from Alley's grad on Friday.
I am soooo proud of her, graduating with distinction and off to teacher's college in the fall.
Left to right in the picture below:
Donna (me), Josh (Alley's brother / my cousin), Alley (the grad) and Chad (my brother).
Not sure that it's fair I am the oldest...and clearly the shortest??? I have no idea when Josh got so tall!

Happy Saturday!

What a great way to spend a Saturday...hanging out with friends and making cards :)

Spent most of the day at Wendy's today getting ready for Mega Meeting on June 27th...I got all 35 of my card swaps done (two weeks in advance?? Very unlike me!!)...AND...made two other samples with the new in colours for a shoebox swap on Monday.

Both cards feature three of the new in colours "rich razzleberry," "melon mambo" and "bermuda bay." Not sure which combination I like better...

First new In Colour Sample...

I'm attending a Stampin' Up! Mega Meeting on June 27th with my fab upline ML and some of my stampin' friends...can't wait...these are always such fun events.

One of my favourite parts of the day is swapping card fronts with the other attendees...so I will make 35 card fronts and get 35 different ones back in exchange! What a great way to get new ideas.

So...I wanted to try something with a few different stamp sets and the new in colours...what do you think?

This card uses the 5th Avenue Floral and Oval All stamp sets and three of the new in colours "soft suede" "crushed curry" and "dusty durango" - the ribbons are "crushed curry" and "dusty durango" as well. The ribbon is polka dots on one side, but I thought that took away from the flowers, so I just flipped it over :)
I like the new in colours even more now that I have seen them in action!!

For Auntie Ruth - Just Because...

I saw this cute punchy pug template on Stampin' Canada (thanks Ter!!) and thought of my beloved Auntie Ruth...who has the cutest little sausage of a pug named Ike (I affectionately call him Ikeroooo).

Stampin Canada Telephone Swap #3

Hooooray! It's that time again...telephone swap on Stampin' Canada!!
This is one of my favourite card swaps...it works just like broken telephone.
Someone makes a card and mails it off to the next person, that person has to recreate the card using only supplies they have on hand, then they mail it off to the next person and so on and so on.
It's really fun to see how the card changes from one person to the next.
MaggyMay decided to have some fun with Wenchie since she always organizes fun things for us, but rarely gets to participate, so we created our own Telephone Swap group and Wenchie gets to make the last card and send it back to me...so here's the card I made, the one we are starting with...we'll see what it looks like as it passes from me to hobbyist to crop_junkie to MaggyMay to Canadian_Stamper to Wenchie and back to me...

Proud Cousin Moment...

Bear with me while I play my "proud cousin" card...tomorrow I am heading off to St Catharine's for Alley's graduation ceremony from Brock...my (yes MY)Berta Bean achieved Dean's List / Hnours standings for her degree in Math (YIKES) and Drama and she's heading off to Teacher's College in the fall.

Love you monkey brains...
I love the little tassle on the hat if I do say so myself...and I did...so there...

I love this card...

I have been going through boxes of cards I have made over the past year or so, ones I keep as samples...and picked out a few that I really like. I think this one is my all time favourite...

Just Because Class...

This week I attended a "Just Because" class with my uber fab SU upline ML.
We made three lovely cards (one I gave away before I had a chance to scan it ~ D'OH!!)...so here are the other two...

Love this one...ML thought it would make a good Father's Day card (if you have a martini kinda Dad). I do like the masculine colour combination in this one. In ML's sample the three scalloped squares were lined up beside each other, I decided to offset mine on the left and right.

This was a fun one to make, lots of different techniques. The background on the card itself was stamped in both ink and versa mark, the green was dong with a wheel, the flowers were coloured with a blender pen and the white is faux silk...mine didn't come out too well...I wish it had more wrinkles...next time :)
