Stamp A Stack - Feb 21, 2009

I attended a stamp a stack with my SU upline and some of my Stampin Canada cohorts yesterday afternoon (Feb 21).

Here are the cards that we made (2 of each):

This one uses one of the sets from the SU catalogue - it's called "Cheep Talk"

This one is a Z fold card, love the colour combinations here...

This one is much prettier than the scan shows, there is clear embossing on the vanilla paper, I think this one will make a lovely wedding card for a certain someone I know who is getting married next month :)

This one features another new set, called Sweet Stems, I like the colour combinations on this one too, I would not have thought to put the red, green and pink together...

Again, this one is nicer than the scan shows...the clouds were done using masking with a scallop punch out. The butterfly is stamped on the card itself, but there is also a cutout butterfly on top for a 3-D effect that you can't really see here...

Although I like how this card came out, it's probably quite different from the sample...I don't tend to follow instructions very well...this one used stazon on acetate which is a nice effect, but I got all the layering wrong...the brown square should have been under the acetate, with the green on top...oh well...

This week's class - sneak peek :)

Here's a quick sneak peek at a few of the projects we're going to make in this week's class...

First up, a top note pocket card (similar to the one in a previous post from the shoebox swap). This one uses kiwi kiss and mostly mustard.

Next up, a cute mini coaster clipboard...this one features one of the stamp sets from the new Stampin Up! catalogue called Game Night. I thought this would be cute to use when having friends over for games...a score keeping notepad. I plan to add a pad of 3x3 sticky notes and I think I would use a black or red clip but white was all I had at home.
Unfortunately, because it's bulky, this didn't scan very well...but you get the idea.

I think our 3rd project for this card will be a spiral card featuring another new Stampin' Up! stamp set called Just Buzzin' By...we'll see if I have it in me to make another project tonight :)

I have the most amazing friends!

This past week was my birthday...and my lovely friend Judy surprised me with the most amazing handmade gift (on top of making beautiful cards, Judy is also a very talented seamstress!).

Here's a picture of what she made me for my birthday...my very own sock monkey :)

Nicky, one of the ladies from Stamping Bella helped us out with a great make and take (Thanks Nicky!!).

Shoebox swap - Feb 09

I love shoebox swaps - in case you aren't sure what this is, everyone plans out a project, and brings enough supplies for everyone in the group to make one of their projects.

Here are some projects we did at a recent shoebox swap that my SU upline hosted this month:

My very first "pop up" card:

A pocket card using the top note:

A valentine treat bag, again using the top note:

Very cute card designed by my SU upline...I just bought this stamp set:

Valentine Cards

Here's an assortment of Valentine cards I have made over the past few weeks, I really like purple and pink, so no I don't have THAT many people to give Valentine cards to, I just really like making them :)
