SOS 193 - I Made This

Time for a new SHOPPING OUR STASH challenge!! Are you ready???

This week's theme is "I Made This"

The SOS crew want you to make your own background, (not just stamping a background stamp) - could be collage, paint, tape, stamp, stencil, or even to alter patterned paper with doodles...fun right???

I made a 5x7 canvas for the challenge. I painted this canvas with chalkboard paint MONTHS ago...I don't even remember if I had a plan for it at the time...so there is sat on my desk.

To create my background I used that painted canvas, some texture paste over a stencil and finally some distress paints. The ridges in the texture paste were unintentional, they must be from the plastic knife I used to spread it over the stencil...but what the heck...it gives it more texture (even after I used a sanding block to try and get rid of them LOL)

For the record, texture paste smells really awful when you dry it with a heat gun and then sand it...take that as a lesson kids, learn from my mistake!!

Shite I used to make this canvas:

  • Canvas (Dollarama)
  • Chalkboard paint (Michael's)
  • Hexagon stencil
  • Texture paste (Ranger)
  • Seedless Preserves & Spun Sugar distress paints (Tim Holtz)
  • Petite Diction "Durable" sentiment stickers (Authentique Papers)
  • Vintage chipboard pops (Pink Paislee)
  • Compostion & Colour cardstock stickers (Websters Pages)
  • Pink sequins (Joanns)
  • Sanding block (SU)
Check out the SOS BLOG for all the details on the challenge and while you are there show my teammies some crafty lovin!! We'd love you to play along with us!

Gorgeous canvas, lots of details I haven't tried this technique yet but often thought I would like to do a canvas.

Ok, this is so damn cool!! And I love it that it's about you! All those adjectives are all true! Love the happy accident you achieved with the ridges in the texture paste. That just makes this look all the more amazeballs!
