Shopping Our Stash #149 - May Day

This week's challenge on SHOPPING OUR STASH is May Day. Did you know that May 1st is May Day??? Well...now ya do!! For this challenge we would like you to use something inspired by the May Pole -- can be ribbon, something twisted, rainbow colors, or just something very tall and skinny -- LOTS of options!

For some reason unknown to me, I decided to do a canvas...a canvas bigger than any canvas I have every attempted before. I had visions of a May Pole made from a popsicle stick wrapped in ribbon with flowers on top, burlap ribbon, a vintage image....really...WHAT WAS I THINKING???

I started by using Gesso on the stencil then setting it aside to dry. At this point I don't think you can even see the honeycomb under everything else. I also found the vintage image I wanted to use (thank you Google) and made the May Pole.

A few days later I came back to it, used mod podge to stick down the pieces of the book and then mod podged over top again, set aside to let it dry.

A few days later I came back to it (are you seeing a theme here??) and finished the whole thing off...an inky mess of distress stains, marker spritzer, flower punch and a whole lotta double sided tape and dimensionals to keep everything in place and VOILA a May Day canvas.

Wow this is fabulous, what a fantastic job. I am so artistically challenged when it comes to all that goopy stuff, layering etc. Great picture too. I thank google a lot too.

Well, well, well. First, THANK YOU for saying Mod Podge and not Modge Podge, and Voila instead of viola or walla. People who do that make me stabby.

Second: A CANVAS?! And it only took you several days to wait for things to dry? Color me impressed with your level of stick-to-it-ive-ness. I bow down to you.

I laughed right out loud at Leslie's comment - walla and Modge Podge make me stabby too. And as for Chris, well, :P (insert raspberry sound effect right there). LOL!
The best projects are those ones that take over by themselves once you get going - as you totally proved here! I love that burlap, and the colours are just stunning!!
