Shopping Our Stash #164 - Back in the Day

This week's SHOPPING OUR STASH challenge is "Back in the Day."

We would like you to use something that you used to use back when you started stamping (hammer to set eyelets, old plastic templates you'd trace with a knife tool that pre-date dies, texture plates you'd rub with a special tool to get texture onto your card stock (pre-dates embossing folders); if you use clear stamps now, use rubber; etc.)
-OR-
Images of something nostalgic (images of an old telephone, old sewing machine, pattern ladies, etc., BUT NOT just a vintage/shabbychic look).

This was a bit of a toughie for me, I have either sold or given away most of the stuff I used when I started stamping oh so many years ago!! I do however still have my Stampin Up coloured chalks...do you remember these??? I wish mine still looked like this, I have lost all the applicators and most of my chalk squares are broken LOL

I've tried to sell those suckers in at least three yard sales, and no takers...good thing I guess so I could use them for this challenge!
A chalkboard background using black cardstock, white craft ink and the SU chalks was one of the first thing I learned when I started stamping, but I haven't done it like this in years!!

I used a few different colours of chalk over the white inked background image and then heat embossed the Eiffel Tower, Amour and flourishy things to make them stand out more from the background. The ticket was a gift from my crafty friend JESSI.

Shite I used to make this card:

  • Basic Black cardstock (SU)
  • White cardstock (Recollections)
  • Whisper White craft ink (SU)
  • Bliss and Artistic Etchings stamp sets (SU)
  • Versamark
  • White embossing powder
  • Ticket

So let's see you rock it old school this week and join us going Back to the Day!! Visit the SOS BLOG for all the details on this challenge and while you are there be sure to show my teammies some crafty lovin!!

I HAVE THOSE CHALKS, and yes, mine are all cracked and broken, too. I think I even bought extra applicators, which explains those weird sponge things in my Miscellaneous drawer. How fun you've actually USED yours.

Ooh la la, this is beautiful! I borrowed those chalks from my niece, and managed to use them once. Yep, good choice. ;)
