SoSS #80 - Q is for Queen

All hail Queen Edna!!
Long live the Queen!!
God save the Queen!!

Our Edna is looking ever so regal for the new SoSS challenge.
That's right friends, Q is for Queen.

I based my project on my most favourite of all queens.
The Queen of Hearts.
Specifically Helena Bonham Carter's big headed Queen of Hearts.
I just adore her.

I adore her so very much that I have THIS in my evil queen collection (yes, I have an evil queen collection...that surprises you???) on a bookshelf in my living room:

Yes...I am THAT nerdy!

OK here's what I made for the challenge.
I couldn't make her big headed, so I did the next best thing and gave her an oversized crown.

Shite I used to make this card:

  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Queen of Hearts playing card
  • On Holiday design paper (The Girls Papiere)
  • Black stripe design paper (SU)
  • Scallop border punch (SU)
  • Well Played element stickers (Carta Bella)
  • Sanding block (SU)
  • Mini ink blender tool (Tim Holtz)
  • Tuxedo Black ink (Memento)
  • Black and white twine (The Twinery)
  • Computer generated sentiment
As always, we would love for you to adorn your own crown and join the sisterhood.

Shopping Our Stash #294 - Luck O' The Irish

Top o' the mornin' to ya crafty pals!

Thanks for stoppin' by to check out the latest SHOPPING OUR STASH challenge!!

With St. Patrick's Day just around the corner, this week's theme is Luck O' The Irish we want to see lots of green on your project...if it's a St. Patrick's Day project...all the better...but it doesn't have to be.

St. Patrick's Day is doubly special for me, not only do I massively enjoy a pint or two of Guinness but I also got married on St. Patrick's Day...and I married into an Irish / Dutch family.

Sometimes I think I make more St. Patrick's Day cards than Christmas cards, probably not...but I do like making St. Patrick's Day cards!!

On all three of my projects I used the LUCKY DAY digital stamp set from VERVE STAMPS and you know what???? This awesome set is free until St. Patrick's day!! You should totally go check it out!!

The digital stamp set may not be from my stash, but everything else is. I can't even remember how long I've had the Pinch Proof stamp set and the design paper is from the pack I bought last year for my Christmas cards.

Here's what I made for the Luck O' The Irish challenge:

Shite I used to make these cards:

  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Lucky Day digital stamp set (Verve Stamps)
  • Pinch Proof stamp set (SU)
  • Lucky Clover distress ink (Tim Holtz)
  • Tuxedo Black ink (Memento)
  • Sugar Plum design paper (Recollections)
  • Water brush (Tim Holtz)
  • Gold bling (ummmmmmm lol long story where that came from)
  • 1 1/4" circle punch (SU)
As always, we would love for you to play along! You can find all the details for the challenge on the SHOPPING OUR STASH BLOG.

While you are there please share some crafty loves with the rest of the crew.

I am entering these cards into the Verve Stamps challenge to use the Lucky Day digital stamp set.

Sketch Saturday #454

Hello friends!!

Can I just tell you how much I am lovin' being part of the SKETCH SATURDAY design team!!

This week we are comin' back at ya with this fun sketch by Gloria.

This challenge is sponsored by SAMI STAMPS and I chose the super cute LUCKY LEPRECHAUN image for my card.

Here's what I made for the challenge:

My wee lucky leprechaun looks like he has been caught out in a rain storm...well he has.

Never content to leave well enough alone, I feel the need to distress things until they hardly look like what they were when they started.

This poor fella (and the other images on the card) were spritzed repeatedly with water, dried and then givena  good going over with a sanding block.

And look, he's still holding his lucky shamrock thinking that good things are going to happen!!

If you think the layer looks slightly askew...you would be correct! That's just how I roll! I need things to be just a little off centre LOL

Shite I used to make this card:

  • Lucky Leprechaun image (Sami Stamps)
  • White cardstock (Fireworx)
  • Sugar Plums paper pack (Recollections)
  • Pinch Proof stamp set (SU)
  • Green Mark It marker (Bic)
  • Gold Stampin Dazzle marker (SU)
  • Black Soot distress marker (Tim Holtz)
  • Close to Cocoa, Blush Blossum & Marina Mist markers (SU)
  • 2 1/2", 1 3/4", 1 3/8" circle punches (SU)
  • Water spritzer (SU)
  • Water brush (Tim Holtz)
  • Heat gun (Marvy)
  • Sanding Block (SU)
  • Sharpie
  • Fishtail & Banner die set (Your Next Stamp)
  • Sentiment sticker (Tim Holtz)
As always we would LOVE for you to play along with us!

The winner of the challenge will receive a $12 gift certificate from SAMI STAMPS!!

Shopping Our Stash #293 - All Its Cracked Up To Be

Greetings friends! Thanks for stopping by today to check out the latest SHOPPING OUR STASH challenge.

This week's theme is All Its Cracked Up To Be

We want to see some kind of crackle medium on your project.

Make something look old and distressed you say??
I am on it!!
That's totally my favourite!!

I started with a plain ole kraft tag and ended up with this:

You'd have to look really hard, but there are four different stencils and distress inks on there!

There are also 5 colours of jute string, but they are a bit hard to spot in the picture.

I don't have the patience for things like crackle accents, takes too long to dry. So I created my own crackle effect with a water spritzer, scrunching the paper up, drying it out with the heat gun, spritzing, scrunching and drying a few times over.

The crackle is most clear on the base of the tag, the clock and the three old dudes.

Tags for me are kind of like ATC's, I like to cram a LOT into a small space.

I even hand drew some uneven stitching with a fine tip sharpie, I am kinda pleased with myself on that one!

I did two layers of stamping, one in frayed burlap and then another in black, used two different washi tapes and five different stamps!

To brighten it up a bit I added some silver accents in the clips.

Shite I used to make this card:

  • Kraft tag (Ranger)
  • Kraft cardstock (Recollections)
  • Heat gun (Marvy)
  • Water spritzer (SU)
  • Life's Possibilities stamp sets (Tim Holtz)
  • Frayed Burlap, Peacock Feathers, Twisted Citron & Wilted Violet distress inks (Tim Holtz)
  • Bubbles, Speckles, Tiles and Clockwork stencils (Tim Holtz)
  • Air Mail washi tape (Tim Holtz)
  • Fine tip sharpie
  • Ruler
  • Jumbo paper clips
  • Arrow clips (SU)
  • Chit Chat stickers (Tim Holtz)
  • Jute string (Tim Holtz)
  • Arrow brad (SU)
  • 1 3/8" circle punch (SU)
Told ya there was a LOT of stuff on that tag!!

As always, we would love for you to play along with us.
